Combination Warm & Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifiers: The Best All-Around Humidifiers

There are so many portable humidifiers on the market that it’s really difficult to choose a quality personal unit, and make sure you have the right type of humidifier for your allergies, asthma, or other dry-air situation. Some of the difficulty arises from simply not knowing the difference or benefits of cool mist and warm mist humidifiers, which is one reason we recommend buying a combination warm & cool or cold mist ultrasonic unit so that you can have the best quality, allergy & asthma-reducing humidified air in a variety of situations, rooms, homes, etc.

Warm mist humidifier’s by definition release a warm mist of moisture into the air by using a heater to warm the water first. This is good for extra dry rooms since warmer moisture air gets into the air better and faster than a cool mist, humidifies the air quicker etc. Cool mist ultrasonic humidifiers are better when you want the lowest energy consumption possible and you don’t want any condensation to develop in smaller rooms, on windows etc. Warm mist humidifier’s are also good because the heat used kills bacteria and viruses that might be present in the water.

Warm mist humidifiers are also good for releasing aromatherapy or vapor treatments into the air, which doesn’t work very well with a cool mist humidifier. For warmer climates sometimes it’s better to use a cool mist ultrasonic humidifier because it can actually help lower the temperature of the room without running your air conditioner, which saves you money. The bottom line is this: buying a combination warm and cool mist humidifier allows you to have properly humidified air, regardless of whether you need warm or cool mist, where you are, what climate your in, and you can easily comply with whatever your doctor might recommend for your situation.

One particular great combination warm and cool mist ultrasonic portable humidifier is the William unit from Stadler Form. This is one of our best recommendations because you have warm and cool mist capability, antibacterial water reservoir, mineral filters, a humidity meter, a timer and it’s large capacity so you won’t have to refill the unit very often.

Do be careful when purchasing ultrasonic humidifiers, however, as they are not all the same. Many humidifiers have silver technology to prevent bacterial growth but the filter only lasts about 2 to 3 months and most do not have anything to prevent mineral dust from settling on your furniture, which happens with most ultrasonic units. This is one reason that we recommend the HERA unit from standard form because it has a one year silver cartridge as well as a demineralization cartridge to prevent the white dust solving both of those problems. So if you’re looking for a quality home portable ultrasonic humidifier, again our best recommendation is the HERA unit from Stadler form as our best ultrasonic humidifiers for sale anywhere — we think you’ll agree

Indoor Air Pollution and Dietary Deficiencies: The Two Most Powerful, Avoidable Health Threats?

More and more people are wondering what they can do to stay healthy, stay young looking, and prevent or get rid of disease. And with the amount of information out on the web about what to take, do this, don’t do that, it can be very difficult to know what pieces of information are actually true, and whether it applies to you or not. Being the health nut that I am, I’ve pretty much seen about everything, taken tons of vitamins, changed my diet, tried multiple types of exercise, and read an enormous amount of material concerning health and wellness. That said, I’ve been able to reduce our main concerns or areas to focus on, down to two main things that can determine whether we have optimum health or not: indoor air quality and dietary deficiencies.

Indoor air quality as a health threat isn’t a new concept, since the EPA even put out a statement in 2011 ranking poor indoor air quality in the top 5 major health threats, along with cancer, heart disease, etc. If you weren’t aware of that, it’s true—just Google 'EPA indoor air quality health top 5' and you’ll find the article. We’re spending over 90% of our time indoors, in our homes and offices, where the air is polluted with illness-causing mold, dust, dust mites, bacteria, viruses, chemicals and more. The problem is that poor air quality is estimated to be present in over 90% of homes and offices. Now, take all those indoor air pollutants, with no portable air purifier or HVAC based home air filtration system to remove them, add the top 5 health deficiencies that cause our tissues and organs to break down—Vitamin D3, Vitamin C, EFA’s (essential fatty acids), magnesium, silica, and not enough alkaline foods to buffer the acid in our systems—and you’ve got a recipe for a shortened life. Period. And contrary to a lot so-called experts, our standard American diet (SAD) doesn’t provide all that we need, and neither do most multivitamins.

This is why all it takes is a few years of bad habits like smoking or drinking, or just eating greasy foods, and for many people, BOOM—they have cancer, or some other disease that seemed to come out of nowhere. The point is that if they weren’t deficient in the above things, their immune and other systems wouldn’t have been as weak, there’s a very good chance they wouldn’t have developed the illness or at best, it wouldn’t have happened for a lot longer period of time. And no, certain diseases aren’t unavoidable just because ‘it runs in your family’—that just means your system may be pre-disposed to it—but if you strengthen yourself and don’t live in a way that creates perfect conditions for the ailment to happen, you probably won’t get it. Make sense?

So what can we do? As responsible adults that care about our health, our families, etc, we have to take matters into our own hands, do the research, and learn how to avoid these deficiencies that set us up to be harmed by the poor indoor air quality we have in our homes and offices.

What have I done personally to help myself and my family? Well, first of all, I use several residential air quality products such as air purifiers to remove these pollutants that I’m sure are present in my home, since the ducts have never been cleaned. Second, I also began using a dehumidifier to remove excess moisture that feeds mold and bacteria growth.  Third, I did the research and found that I needed to supplement with the nutritional items I mentioned above.

Now, to be fair, not everyone is deficient in everything so it’s best to check with your doctor and evaluate your diet before supplementing. Again, do your own research and make your own decisions, but definitely take responsibility for your health, and the health of your family, learn, and protect yourself. Unfortunately, I have found in so many areas of life, that if you don’t, no one will. And home indoor air quality is no exception.

UV Light and Air Conditioning: A Best Kept Secret for Super Clean Indoor Air?

UV or ultraviolet light has been used for many years it the medical and other technical fields for killing bacteria, viruses & general disinfection of air, water, and other materials. When UV light was found effective for killing mold, bacteria and viruses in air conditioning ducts, a lot of companies got on the bandwagon, creating lots of UV light air purification systems. Some produced ozone, which is harmful so many people steered away from it. However, researchers found that by properly using UV-C light in air conditioning ducts, that you get all the great germ killing power of UV light—without the ozone. And, you get good production of healthy negative OH- ions, which further purify the air, kill bacteria & mold, and even help eliminate odors. Still, it seems that a lot allergy and asthma sufferers either don’t know about the benefits of top-rated duct mounted UV light air cleaners or they’ve been misled in some way about it and don’t want to try it. In this article, we’d like to shed some light on HVAC mounted ultraviolet light air cleaners and how they can make a world of difference in your home, room, office or even business air quality–when installed correctly, with the right type of UV light.

As we said above, top-rated UV light bulbs with UV-C type rays can easily kill mold, bacteria, algae, viruses, and other germs in your home or office, on contact, provided that they are at least 36 watt bulbs and it’s best if there are two of these bulbs about 30-36” apart in the output side of the air conditioning duct. Why two bulbs? Two bulbs create about 48,000 light units, which is what is required for a 98% + kill on the first pass. One bulb will kill about 70% of germs, mold, etc., the first time the air and the pollutant float by, and that will work fine, but it will take longer for the air to be completely cleaned and all of the organisms in the air, killed.

Why choose the output side of your home’s central HVAC or air conditioning system? That’s because the coil (where air conditioning refrigerant flows through the tubing to cool the air) is wet about 90% of the time and accumulates and feeds the bacteria, mold and other germs that land there as the air blows by. If the UV lamps are placed on the output side, any germs coming off the coil will be killed by the ultraviolet light. This way you don’t have extra live bacteria and mold blowing out of the central air conditioning ducts and into your rooms for you to breathe. So for best allergy, asthma, sinus or respiratory symptom reduction, we recommend a two-bulb UV light air purifier system, installed in the output ducts of your HVAC system.

For those with severe allergies, respiratory problems or other health issues, it’s often best to have both a two-bulb UV light air cleaner in the air conditioning duct—and have a couple of top-rated portable air cleaners in the rooms of your home or office where you spend the majority of your time. This way, you have the germicidal action of the ultraviolet light, killing any bacteria, mold or viruses that might be present, and you have true HEPA & carbon air filtration to remove these pollutants and all the other particles, gases, and vapors—plus all the healthy negative ions floating around that further kill bacteria, mold, viruses, and even freshen the air.

This combination of a top-rated UV light air cleaner and room air purifier system can create super-clean, allergen and germ free air in your home in as little as 24-48 hours. Do make sure, however, that whatever UV light air cleaner system you buy has those 36 watt laboratory grade bulbs—anything less will not do the job. And make sure to place them at least 30-36” apart in the output side of the HVAC ducts, so you can get maximum performance for your money.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com offers the very best, top-rated  HVAC mounted home & office ultraviolet light air purification systems  from APC, replacement 36 watt bulbs, top-rated portable room air purifiers, and more. And since we are an online store with extremely low overhead, you can rest assured that you are getting these amazing UV light cleaners and other products at the best, cheapest discount prices possible–with free shipping. Portable Room Air Purifiers: Essential for Good Health

More and more health-conscious consumers are realizing that homes & offices have a lot of things floating in the air, and that most of it isn’t exactly good for you. They’re figuring out that, ‘hmm….I sneeze and cough more when I’m at home or at the office than I do when I’m outdoors’ or ‘I just feel better when I’ve been away from my home or office for a couple of hours’.

Why is this? Well, among other reports, the EPA as recently at December 2011 placed indoor air quality in the TOP 5 major health threats we face, right up there with heart disease, cancer, etc. That’s because over 90% of homes and offices were found in research have air that is regularly polluted with allergy, asthma, & illness-causing dust, which was found to often contain bacteria, mold spores, viruses, fibers, and about 200 live dust mite animals per gram of dust! And did you know that dust mites account for around 60% of new asthma cases each year? All of that, plus the toxic build-up of chemical residues and odors from cleaning products, paints, carpets, wood treatments, and other chemicals & solvents used in the home, makes for an overall un-healthy place to live.

And if you don’t have health problems now, you likely will because of constant inhalation of pollutants. If you have other people coming in and out of your home, room or office on a regular basis, they can bring bacteria, viruses and other pollutants with them. Without an air purifier to trap them, you and others around you will probably get sick much more often.

The good news is that safe, healthy indoor air quality is fairly easy to obtain, by simply using a portable home & office air purification system that traps over 99% of problem-causing pollutants so you and your family, or employees or customer, don’t breathe them. The top-rated portable room air purifiers we’re speaking of are able to purify the air by using true, certified HEPA and carbon filters designed to actually clean the air. The HEPA filters trap over 99% of the allergy, asthma, and illness-causing dust, & particles that you’re A/C filter cannot trap, and the carbon in these types of filters is highly-activated so that it easily absorbs harmful chemical residues, odors, and gases–which your A/C filter isn’t designed to trap, either.

Why portable air purifiers instead of a whole house air cleaner? Portable room air cleaners are easy to move from room to room or take with you to other homes or hotels, so that you’re always breathing the cleanest air possible wherever you go. And, if you don’t own the home, or apartment, you can’t really install a whole house air cleaner so having one or more portable air purifiers are your best, money and health saving option. Top rated portable air cleaners are so effective that some customers have reported that their allergies and asthma attacks have been reduced by over 50%, some over 90%, just by keeping an air cleaner running in their home or room. And that means less spending on allergy or asthma medications and tissues, too!

It’s wise, however, not buy a cheap air purifier just because you’re on a budget. It’s much better to buy a quality air cleaner with the right filters a couple of months later when you have the money, than buying a cheap air cleaner now that won’t do the job and will probably break within a year. We highly recommend Aller Air, Austin Air, Blueair, and Winix for the best performing, most affordable portable room air purifiers. All air cleaners from these brands include the true HEPA, activated carbon filters and other features that are required to avoid the hazards of breathing polluted air in your home or office.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com offers a great selection of the best, top-rated room air cleaners for home and office use, at the best discount prices you’ll find anywhere. Your best air filtration units are usually found online because major stores like Walmart and others demand so much from quality air purifier manufacturers that their overhead is too high, which makes it difficult for quality brands to be sold there. Because we are an online store, however, our overhead is very low, which allows us to offer the best quality portable air cleaners at the best prices, with free shipping every day, making it easy for you, your family or employees to protect their health from the hazards of polluted indoor air. And, we are here to support you and answer questions before and after the sale—just give us a call and we’ll help you make the perfect air purifier purchase—1-800-701-2513.

Absorbing Industrial Smoke w/Fume Extractors–Some Important Tips for Doing it Right

Industrial or commercial smoke can be composed of a variety of pollutants, chemicals, gases, vapors, ash & other particles, and obviously it needs to be extracted from working environments to avoid unnecessary health hazards and liability for employees. Smoke is often a more potent and dangerous pollutant than fume or dust pollutants because smoke can transmit the entire range of harmful pollutants–fumes, gases, vapors and particles—all in one sticky, penetrating, and lingering form. That means that having a proper fume extractor with the right filters for smoke is very important for indoor air quality, work safety, and preventing OSHA fines & lawsuits that could ruin your business.

Fortunately, absorbing or removing smoke and all of its chemical, gas, fumes & particle type pollutants from work areas and job sites is fairly easy to do, provided that you have quality industrial fume extractor with the right type and grade of filters. The best fume extractors that absorb smoke most efficiently will have anywhere from 40-240 pounds of industrial-strength activated carbon, zeolite or both, which is necessary because many types of industrial smoke contain some of the toughest to remove chemicals, like TCE, hydrogen sulfide, formaldehyde, benzene, and others. These top-rated fume extractors will also have a medical-grade HEPA.

Why medical-grade HEPA? Because this type of filter captures the tiny, dangerous sub-micron ash and other particles that are usually found in smoke, down to 0.1 microns, better than most HEPA filters that stop at 0.3 microns, leaving the smaller 0.1 micron particles in the air for you to breathe. Finally, the best fume extractors for smoke removal also have a good pre-filter system that removes tar molecules so they don’t clog up your HEPA and carbon filters prematurely. A good tar-trapping pre-filter saves you money by extending the life of those more expensive filters. The same is true for any situation where industrial smoke or any other type of smoke, such as cigar or cigarette smoke is present–to remove or extract smoke effectively, you must have the filters to do the job.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of fume extractors or gas & vapor filtration systems on the market that claim all sorts of things about what chemicals they can absorb, but keep in mind that if the unit doesn’t have all of what we mentioned above, it will not remove smoke, its chemicals, tar, & particles properly—and that means what the extractor doesn’t remove will be left in the air for you and your employees to breathe. Also remember that by efficiently removing smoke and all of the ash and particles, you’ll be doing yourself a favor by reducing cleaning, equipment maintenance because all of dirt, dust & ash tends to clog up machinery, foul up electrical connections, and can even contaminate food and water that becomes exposed to it. A quality fume extractor that keeps harmful smoke out of the air is money well-spent. And finally, air cleaners with electrostatic ‘smoke eater’ plates don’t clean the air like real filters do, and do not have anything to capture fumes, chemicals, & gases, despite all their claims, so don’t waste your money.

Your best bet is to purchase a quality fume extractor with the filters mentioned above, such as the RSU series from Electrocorp, for example, which have many years of proven smoke, fume, and particle extraction performance.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners offers an excellent selection of industrial fume extractors that easily remove smoke, and portable gas & vapor filtration systems for any application where chemical, smoke, VOC, gas or particles need to be removed. And since we are an online store with extremely low overhead, that enables us to sell these fume extractor systems to you as the very best, discount prices, with free shipping every day. Best Air Purifiers for Pet Hair: Three Key Features to Look For

Pet hair floating around in your home or room can be really aggravating, both to your allergies and to any guests that might be visiting. Cat hair becomes airborne more easily because the hair is lighter and thinner, making it easy for air to pick it up. Small dog hair fragments become airborne easily, as well. What many people do not think about, is that the hair also carries with it very small dander particles (skin flakes, oils, bacteria, etc) and those added pollutants actually make allergic reactions more severe and longer lasting.

As a result, many consumers look for an air purifier that will effectively deal with a pet hair problem, but often find that the unit doesn’t perform as well as they thought. From our experience, testing, and feedback from customers, there are 3 particular pet air purifier features that are important to look for when deciding which unit is the best air purifier for your cat hair, dog hair, or other pet hair situation:

1) Don’t buy a unit that is too small or has an output that is too low—if the air cleaner isn’t cycling or moving enough air, what’s happening is that you’re breathing the cat or dog hair and hair fragments before the air cleaner can remove them. Choose an air cleaner with a minimum of 180-200 CFM for most rooms, and the higher the CFM output, the better.

2) Make sure the air cleaner has a true HEPA filter, not HEPA style—without a true HEPA filter, the pet air purifier won’t be able to stop all the tiny, aggravating cat or dog hair fragments that can really stir up your allergies. HEPA style isn’t enough, either, since HEPA style filters (found in many cheap air purifiers) only traps 60-70% of particles and hair, leaving 30-40% in the air to aggravate your allergies. If you’re looking for an air cleaner for cat allergies, definitely make sure the unit has a true HEPA filter.

3) Look for Healthy Negative Ions—choose an air purifier that generates healthy negative OH- ions, not ozone, because these ions can actually cause pet hair and hair fragments to fall out of the air, kill bacteria, and help with odors all at the same time—some of the best pet air purifier brands that include negative ions are Blueair and Winix.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com offers a great selection of the very best air purifiers for pet hair, pet allergies, pet hair, cat & dog dander & odors, from top-rated brands like Blueair and Winix. And since we’re an online store with extremely low overhead, that enables us to sell these amazing air cleaners at cheap discount prices every day–with FREE SHIPPING

And you always get our world-class customer service—before, and after the sale. Replacement Air Filters: Replacing Them On Time Saves You Money

A lot of people think of replacement air filters as just one more cost they have to deal with for their home or room air filtration system. They know it’s important to replace the filters regularly for best performance, but in many cases, don’t realize that replacing them on time or a little before, can actually save you money. Why? As air filters begin to get full or clogged up, the air flow starts to become reduced and that creates a back pressure on the air purifier or filtration unit, which causes the unit to have to use more energy to push the air through the filter, which drives your electric bill upward. And, when this happens for a long period of time with room air cleaners, this back pressure and extra load that is placed on the unit can actually cause the air purifier to wear out much sooner, and can even void your manufacturer’s warranty.

The simple way to get replacement air filters working to save you money is to buy your replacement room air cleaner filter kits on time or a little before. HEPA and charcoal or carbon cartridge filters are both much more effective and allow the air cleaner to use the least amount of energy when not clogged. Charcoal cartridge air filters actually stop absorbing chemical pollutant when they are saturated, and then the air purifier is simply circulating polluted air which creates more of a hazard. This can be a allergy-increasing nuisance for home owners, and actually a deadly health hazard for industrial or commercial situations where the air is heavily polluted with harmful chemicals. This is also true for hospitals—you cannot afford to have infectious or harmful agents floating around. For hospital or industrial situations, buying your replacement charcoal cartridge filters on time or before could prevent employee illness, save on healthcare costs, and prevent OSHA fines & lawsuits!

For those with allergies or asthma, not only will you breathe easier with regular filter replacements, you’ll be spending less on medications, trips to the doctor and saving on other related expenses. Buying replacement filters on time is a smart way to lower overall home or household expenses, avoid unnecessary liabilities and expenses for industrial business situations, and mainly just make sure everyone is breathing easier, with fewer health or allergy problems.

Do make sure that you buy manufacturer-made replacement HEPA and charcoal cartridge air cleaner filters, however. Cheap aftermarket air filters will not fit the air cleaner as well, will probably allow pollutants to get through the unit and out into your room or home, and may even void your air purifier manufacturer’s warranty , so it isn’t worth it to save a buck or two trying to use a cheap, substandard filter or cut to fit material. In fact, one manufacturer, Blueair, offers a lifetime warranty on the unit if you sign up for automatic shipment of replacement filters. That’s mainly because they know the unit will last many more years if the filters are replaced regularly.

Also consider that if you only have one air purifier running in a large room or home, you’ll probably need to replace the HEPA and charcoal filters a little sooner than the manufacturer’s recommended time because that one unit is trapping pollutants, allergens, etc from several rooms at once.  At the same time, if you have more than one large room capacity air purifier running, you can probably get 3-4 more months of use out of the filters since the pollutants are being divided up between the units—which is one good reason for having 2-3 room air cleaners running on a given floor, saves on filter expense, etc.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com is a your #1 best source for manufacturer-made replacement HEPA & carbon or charcoal cartridge air cleaner filters for top rated brands such as Aller Air, Austin Air, Blueair, Winix, Tiger, Electrocorp and other major brands. And since we are an online store with extremely low overhead, we are able to offer these filters at cheap discount prices every day—with free shipping—so you can be sure that you’re getting the very best deals possible.

If you have any questions, or don’t see the filter you’re looking for, give our air purification and indoor air filtration experts a call toll-free at 1-800-701-2513. We most likely have the replacement filter you’re looking for and we’re here to help!

Commercial Construction Site Portable HEPA Air Purifiers: One of Your Most Important Work Safety Measures

Commercial construction sites can have a variety of airborne pollutants, from drywall dust to insulation fibers, to various chemical fumes from paints, solvents, acids, and other sources. And If you’ve got employees working in any kind of enclosed area where they can be exposed, without a proper portable hepa air purifier, yourself, your employees, and your business is probably at risk. Even if there are only a couple of walls up, that gives pollutants a chance to accumulate and become a hazard. And many respirators aren’t equipped with strong enough filters to eliminate hazardous fumes and sub-micron-size particles. Plus, some fumes and particles are actually quite heavy and tend to hang around even in open construction sites, so those situations can be a problem, too.

Your best bet is to have one or more commercial construction site HEPA air purifiers on hand to make sure the air is clean, and make sure you’re not leaving yourself and your business wide open for employee health issues, OSHA fines and lawsuits. Many quality construction site HEPA air cleaners include both HEPA and carbon filters that will remove both tough fumes and dust particles, and some are specialized for removing mainly dust or fumes. One particular brand of commercial portable HEPA air cleaners that we routinely recommend is Electrocorp. Electrocorp has been a leader in commercial and industrial air filtration since the early 90’s for some very good reasons.

First, Electrocorp HEPA filters are all, well over 99% efficient, remove particles as small as 0.1 microns, and last anywhere from 2-5 years, depending on use. Second, Electrocorp’s carbon filters are second to none with a special proprietary activation process that causes their carbon filters and air scrubbers to absorb more chemicals more efficiently than any other carbon filter on the market. Those high quality HEPA and carbon filters, paired with solid steel construction, high output, positive & negative air capability, custom design options, and 10 year warranty has made Electrocorp the #1 choice for work safety concerns, construction contractors and many other commercial and industrial professionals.

For best air cleaning and airborne hazard removal from construction sites, buildings, offices & warehouses, we recommend the RSU series portable HEPA air cleaners and the Air Rhino series portable air purifier units. If you need an all-around portable construction site HEPA air purifier with positive and negative air capability, high output, and the ability to switch back and forth between a highly efficient dust collector and fume extractor for different jobs, the Air Rhino 2000 VS series is our number one recommendation. These portable industrial air cleaner units can sit on the floor and rolled around to whatever space or areas that needs air cleaning or hung from a ceiling, rafter or beam to save floor space or just keep it out of the way.

The Air Rhino 2000 VS units are also positive and negative air capable, as well as easily convertible to a source capture air scrubber by simply buying a flange and some tubing and directing the suction tube toward the area where pollutants need to be immediately removed. For large industrial or commercial warehouses, work sites, buildings, or workshops where a combination of powerful, portable dust collection and fume extraction is needed, we recommend the RSU CCH series, with up to 240 pounds of super-activated carbon and medical grade HEPA filters to remove the toughest chemical and particle or fiber type pollutants and keep employees breathing clean, hazard-free air.

Don’t be fooled by cheaper portable commercial construction site air cleaner claims—if they don’t have a medical grade HEPA filter, at least 40-50 pounds of carbon, an output of 350-1000 CFM, and a verifiable reputation for durability, don’t waste your money. Go with Electrocorp and do it once, properly, so that you have peace of mind knowing that your work area or site has clean, pollutant-free air and your employees (and your business) are safe.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners offers an excellent selection of Electrocorp’s best portable construction site HEPA air purifiers, industrial air scrubbers, sanitizers, Air Rhino commercial positive & negative air filtration systems, custom carbon filters, and much more. And you can rest assured that you’re getting the best discount prices possible with free shipping every day due to our extremely low overhead—savings that we are happy to pass on to you!

Duct Mounted UV Light Air Cleaners: Supercharge Your Home Air Purification System and Get Real Allergy & Sinus Relief!

More and more people are realizing that the EPA was right in calling indoor air pollution one of the ‘top 5 major health threats that we face today’, and consequently purchase home air filtration systems to remove the airborne dust, mold, bacteria and chemicals that are the usual culprits. Many home owners and allergy-sufferers, however, find that the air purification unit or system they purchased does an ‘ok’ job of reducing allergy & asthma symptoms, but doesn’t completely solve the problem. And often, they still get headaches, deal with poor sleep, low energy, chronic sinus infections and more.

Does that mean the air purifier or filtration system isn’t working? Sometimes when people purchase cheap room air cleaners, it’s true that they often don’t clean the air that well. But what’s the problem when someone buys a quality room air cleaner and it’s still not doing the job? Many times, the real problem is that there are live mold and bacteria still floating blowing out of the ducts and into the rooms of your home, and you breathe them in before the room air purifier can remove them. And since it only take a couple of bacteria or mold spores to cause a problem, that’s why the sneezing , sinus infections, or respiratory problems don’t seem to completely go away.

That’s where UV light air purification systems can make a real difference. Duct mounted UV light air cleaners release UV-C light that is highly germicidal, antibacterial, and antiviral, killing up to 99% of them as they float by—which means they’ll be dead before they come out of the central air conditioning ducts. HVAC ultraviolet air treatment also releases powerful negative ions (OH, not ozone) that also destroy bacteria and viruses, and many odors, on contact. The ions also cause many particles to clump together and either fall to the ground or get trapped more easily by your air purifier, or both. So you can see, an HVAC mounted UV light air cleaner can be that one thing you’ve been missing, the last piece of the puzzle to get the allergy or asthma relief you need.

You do have to be careful, though, when buying an HVAC or central air conditioner-based UV light air cleaner system. To be effective, it’s best to have two 36 watt bulbs placed 30 inches apart in the output duct of the air conditioner. This is the setup that was used in successful laboratory tests that proved UV light air purification kills over 99% of all bacteria, mold, viruses, even algae. If the duct mounted ultraviolet light air cleaner system you’re considering doesn’t offer exactly what we said above, don’t buy it—you’ll likely be wasting your time and money as any UV light unit or system without at least one 36 watt bulb (two is better for faster disinfection).

And if they won’t tell you what the wattage is, definitely stay away because they are clearly trying to hide something. For best results, we recommend the APC brand of germicidal UV light air cleaner systems because they have been proven for many years, and most customers notice much better sleep and easier breathing in as little as 24-48 hours after installation. These UV light air cleaners are super easy to install, requiring only about 15 minutes and simple hand tools.

Industrial Fume Collection Systems: Electrocorp and Amaircare HVAC Systems Offer Best Value

When a business or company has even small amounts of harmful fumes, gases, & vapors floating in work areas and offices, that’s a problem. And even though you have source capture fume extractors at each welding or soldering station, for example, often there are still residual fumes & gases floating around and being carried through the HVAC system into rooms & offices where everyone else is breathing these pollutants on a regular basis. And depending on how harmful the fumes (and particles) are, you could be setting yourself up for hefty, surprise increased healthcare, insurance and other costs, possibly even OSHA fines and lawsuits.

A great answer to this problem is to install an duct mounted fume extractor system, so that all of those residual fumes, gases & vapors will be removed, not just circulated, creating more hazards. A proper air conditioner based fume extraction system uses fairly large amounts of super-activated, industrial-strength carbon that absorbs the fumes and chemicals as they pass through, released only clean, filtered, hazard-free air for everyone to breathe. Some of the best fume extractors also include a commercial grade HEPA filter, which traps all those residual micro particles as well, removing that hazard, too, since even the best HVAC filters (even electrostatic) are not HEPA filters and will not stop those tiny micro-particles. A cyclone dust collection system, for example, can be fitted with both types of filters, carbon and HEPA filters to do a complete job of air cleaning in your shop, building or warehouse. And there are various units, such as Electrocorp’s I-6500 units that can function as cyclone dust extractors or as a standalone portable fume and dust extraction unit that can be rolled around to wherever fume extraction or air cleaning is needed most.

Do be sure, however, when selecting a commercial HVAC gas & particle filtration system that is does have several key features: 1) at least 40-50 lbs or more of industrial strength carbon, 2) ideally, a medical grade, commercial strength HEPA filter, 3) a pre-filter to prevent premature clogging of the other filters by larger particles, and 4) a good output of 400-1000 CFM. Anything less than those key features will not do the job you hoped that it would—and won’t remove the hazardous fumes and particles that can cost you in so many ways. Electrocorp is our best fume extraction system manufacturer recommendation because of proven results and long-lasting machines, at the best prices—and that means value.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners offers quality Electrocorp and AmaircareHVAC gas & vapor collection systems and portable commercial fume extractors for welding, soldering, shops, job sites, and just about any application where chemical, smoke, VOC, gas or particles need to be removed. And since we are an online store, that means we can use our low overhead to bring you these amazing fume extractors at the best discount prices possible, with free shipping every day!

Dust Collectors for Wood Working & Carving: Get the Right Unit, Save Your Health.

Woodworking and wood carving both produce all kinds of wood particles, fibers, dust, and fumes that are harmful to breathe. Sweeping and vacuuming aren’t enough, either, because harmful microscopic fibers, dust, and particles remain in the air for hours, and then become airborne again after being disturbed by foot traffic or airflow. And even with a respirator, the filter in that respirator isn’t quite a HEPA filter, and there are times when take it off, or don’t put it on for a while, which allows dust, particles and other pollutants to enter your body that take a long time to get out. And while those pollutants are in your system, they can cause a range of health problems, from simple coughing, sneezing & wheezing, to more serious respiratory issues, even COPD, and lung damage, among other problems.

If you own a business and this happens to employees, those health issues could cost you thousands in healthcare, insurance, OSHA fines, even lawsuits. Not to mention, you could lose your own health, and then you won’t be able to enjoy woodworking the way you used to.

Controlling and preventing damage to your health and your business from dust & particle pollution is easy to do, if you know which type of dust collector you need, what size or output capacity is needed, and what filters are necessary. Typically, most woodworking and wood carving shops have several machines, lathes, drills, grinders, saws, etc that produce wood chips, dust, fragments, particles, etc and it’s ideal to have a source capture workshop particle removal system at each station and a portable room dust collector out in the main area that removes any remaining airborne particles after the individual machine dust extractors turn off (many dust collectors turn off after the machine turns off). This type of system, when used properly, ensures that harmful airborne toxic fine dust particles and fibers are continuously removed both at the source and from the ambient air, keeping particle counts at virtually zero, 99% of the time. Some shop owners choose a combination of a HVAC based cyclone dust collector and the source capture units at each station. Cyclone dust collectors are great for extended filter life and attaching to HVAC systems where they can filter all the air in a building or shop. Either way, problem solved.

One particular brand or manufacturer of woodworking dust extraction systems that we highly recommend is Electrocorp. Electrocorp offers affordable, industrial-strength source capture dust collection units and portable or HVAC based room filtration systems, even custom dust collectors that include powerful commercial-grade HEPA filters that automatically remove those toxic fine dust particles and fibers, as well as a good pre-filter for larger wood and other particles, and strong outputs of 350-1500 CFM or more, depending on how many cubic feet of air space is in the room or workshop. Most OSHA requirements are from 4-6 complete air changes per hour, so if you’re not sure, just ask us and we’ll calculate how many and what size unit would be best.

For example though, if your shop is 20 x 20 x 10 ft ceiling, that’s 4000 cubic feet of air space—so for the room dust collectors, one Electrocorp RSU 24 running at 500 CFM would clean all the air, remove 99% of all dust / particles every 8 minutes, or about 7.5 air changes per hour. Another great unit is the Air Rhino 2000 VS HEPA series, which can handle even larger spaces and even cheaper. For source capture woodworking dust collection units, we often recommend an RSU 12 or RSU 20 CCHR model at each station, all of which have medical-grade, commercial-strength HEPA filters to keep dust and particles away from you, your employees—and your business.

UV Light Air Cleaners: Your Best Move If You Have Mold

Mold is becoming more and more well-known as a cause of allergies, asthma, chronic fatigue, and some major health problems like heart disease, neurological disorders, and even cancer. And one of the places where mold spores live and multiply is along with the dust & fibers in the ducts of your HVAC system, stuck to the inside walls of the ducts all over your house, releasing live mold spores, bacteria, & other germs all day long. It’s also been shown in research that over 80% of homes have some level of mold spores floating around. And other than buying a dehumidifier and HEPA air purifier system, if you know or even think you have mold, one of the best moves you can make is to install a UV light air cleaner in your central air conditioning ducts.

Both duct mounted and portable UV air treatment systems kill mold by releasing two powerful types of germ killing power—the UV-C light rays and healthy negative OH- ions, not ozone. The UV light rays are measured in ‘light units’ and each laboratory grade 36 watt bulb releases about 24,000 light units, enough to kill about 70% of most strains of mold, bacteria, and other organisms, on contact. The UV light not only destroys their cell structure, but also their DNA, which makes it impossible for them to reproduce any longer. Two laboratory strength 36 watt bulbs placed 30 inches apart in the air conditioner or furnace duct has been shown in lab tests results to kill over 99% of all strains of bacteria, mold, viruses, even algae. And, as the UV light comes in contact with water molecules in the air, OH- negative ions are created as the light removes a H from H2O. The OH- ion also destroys bacterial, mold cell & viral protein structure, preventing them from multiplying as well. Negative ions also help freshen the air by disintegrating many airborne compounds found in most home & office air, including pet dander odors, mildew smell, cooking odors, and other tough odors.

It’s important, however, to make sure that when you purchase a portable UV air purifier or HVAC UV system that it has several important features or the unit may not kill the mold or help very much with mildew smell & other odors. First, the duct mounted UV bulbs in the air purifier unit must be at least 36 watts and release only UV-C light rays. Thirty six watts is the strength found effective in laboratory tests—anything less will leave organisms (including tougher strains of mold) alive and well. Second, for best results, make sure there are two 36 watt bulbs placed 30 inches apart—two bulbs placed 30 inches apart gives you a true 48,000 UV-C light units, an amount proven in research to kill over 99% of mold, bacteria, viruses, even algae. For portable units, you need at least 10-20 watt bulbs for effective germicidal action. SunPure's TRIO unit and AllerAir units are some of the most effective portable units.

You can get a noticeable difference and about 70% mold kill on the first pass with one 36 watt bulb, but again, for best results, we recommend a double UV bulb system. Also, be sure to place the UV light air purifier system on the output side of the HVAC or central air conditioning system to make sure it has a chance to kill all the mold & bacteria that often grow on the coil and release spores, etc, as the air blows by—otherwise, the mold & bacteria get a chance to blow out into your room for you to breathe first.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com offers top rated APC 36 watt UV (ultraviolet) light HVAC duct mounted air purification systems and portable UV air treatment systems replacement 36 watt bulbs, with a laboratory tested kill rate of 99% of bacteria, mold, viruses, algae & other organisms, eliminate odors, and reduce allergies in as little as 24-48 hours after installation.

Commercial Air Filter Systems: Is Yours Helping or Hurting Your Business?

When it comes to air quality control in commercial businesses, many business owners rely on the HVAC technician to install a good system and they assume if there’s anything they need to know, that tech would tell them, right? Well, there’s a problem with that logic: HVAC techs aren’t usually indoor air quality specialists—they mostly specialize in the use, installation and troubleshooting of the brands of commercial air filter systems and units they offer. And the issue there is that if there are certain toxic pollutants in your work areas, warehouses, shops, etc., that need to be removed, it’s going to require a commercial grade HEPA filter and if there are fumes, an industrial strength carbon filter tuned to absorb the chemical residues or fumes present—things that aren’t usually included with the standard air conditioning or HVAC system, even with the best HVAC filters. And that means, if the air is being circulated well, but not removing pollutants properly, it’s just exposing you and your employees to more of the pollution. In that case, your commercial air filter system may actually be hurting your business.

It’s easy, however, to maintain proper air quality control in commercial & industrial settings, if you know which units are the best air scrubbers and what type of filters you need. The top commercial air filtration system brand we have found that we have found is Electrocorp, rated #1 for many years in performance, value, and durability. One of the important features that Electrocorp commercial air filtration systems offer is the ability to customize the carbon blends to ensure proper chemical fumes or residue removal in your workshop, job site or warehouse, at a consistent rate of over 99%. That can be very important, and explain why many industrial air cleaners have carbon filters but just don’t perform as well—often, the carbon is not chemically ‘tuned’ so that it can remove the pollutants present. Another great feature of Electrocorp commercial air scrubbers is that most units include a medical-grade HEPA filter, which is required to really be able to remove the tiny, more dangerous dust & fiber particles often found in warehouses, rooms, sites, shops, etc. And to help the HEPA and carbon filters last a full 3-5 years, Electrocorp air purifier units include an electrostatic pre-filter system, which prevents premature clogging—a very important, money-saving feature. Many clients ask us “can’t I just put a HEPA filter or a big carbon filter in my HVAC system?”

Well, the problem with that is two-fold—first, it will be tough to find the quality carbon and HEPA filters that would do the job and second, those filters tend to restrict airflow without a motor to help move the air along—which is why Electrocorp created air cleaners and sanitizers as separate units with powerful motors to push that polluted air through the HEPA and carbon filters effectively. And sometimes, a commercial or industrial air pollution situation involves a room or job site where you don’t have an HVAC system—in that case, it’s best use one of Electrocorp’s portable industrial room air cleaners with the heavy duty filters we mentioned above. The portable units can easily be moved around from room to room, or site to site, as needed, for proper fume & particle removal and prevent health hazards, OSHA complaints & fines, etc. One particular portable industrial air cleaner we recommend a lot is the Electrocorp Air Rhino 2000 series, since it can operate as a fume extractor or dust collector, and has positive and negative air capability, all in one unit.

Again, don’t be fooled. There are a lot of so-called ‘commercial air cleaner’ manufacturers out there with all kinds of claims about how effective their units are for pollutant removal. Stay with the basics and you’ll always make a good buying decision: make sure the unit has a medical grade HEPA filter, a substantial carbon filter of at least 20 pounds of the best industrial strength carbon, a prefilter system, a strong motor with an output of at least 400 CFM, and at least a 10 year warranty. If the commercial air cleaner your considering doesn’t offer all of those features, there’s a chance that it will not clean the air properly. Electrocorp air purifiers , again, offer all of these important features and have a reputation for success—that’s why we recommend them for just about any commercial or industrial application.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners offers an excellent selection of the best commercial air filtration units, sanitizers, HVAC mounted air cleaners, commercial positive & negative air filtration systems, custom carbon filters, and much more. We are committed to providing you with the best discount prices possible and offer free shipping every day—along with our amazing customer service, and a safe and easy, 100% secure checkout.

Cat or Dog Hair Problem? Make Sure Your Pet Air Cleaner Has a Pre-Filter

Cat hair, dog hair and other animal hair floating around is never a good thing. And many people buy a pet air purifier to get rid of it, only to find that they are replacing filters every 2-3 months or sooner, which gets expensive. The problem is usually, that the air cleaner chosen does not have a pre-filter, which stops the larger hair and other dust or dander particles from prematurely clogging up the HEPA filter, restricting air flow. Many air purifier manufacturers sell a cheap unit, say it’s a good cat hair air filter, for example, but don’t include that all-important pre-filter, and that’s where they make their money on you—all the extra filters. These air purifier manufacturers aren’t ignorant to the importance of pre-filters, but they’re hoping that you are.

Well, sorry guys, but we’re telling everybody because it just isn’t right. Pet air cleaners, and any other air cleaner for matter, that doesn’t have a pre-filter will have prematurely clogged HEPA and carbon filters and much higher filter replacement costs. And about 65% of pet dander is in the larger particle range of 3-10 microns, which means that pet dander and hair will clog up a HEPA or carbon filter even faster than normal house dust. So, if you don’t want to be running up your credit card bill replacing filters for your pet air purifier, it’s best to choose a top-rated unit that includes pre-filters, and a few other key features.

Some of the very best pet hair removal purifiers that we’ve found are the Austin Pet Machine, Aller Air 5000 Vocarb, and the Winix 9500 Ultimate Pet Air Cleaner, all of which have a pre-filter, quality HEPA filters, and enough carbon to take care of pet odors, too. If the cat, dog or bird odors you have are pretty strong, we recommend the Pet Machine and 5000 Vocarb as most effective pet air cleaners for urine odors since they have a lot more carbon and remove odors very well. The Pet Machine and 5000 Vocarb also can handle 1500 square feet with one air cleaner, and the filters last 3-5 years.

To be fair, not all pet air cleaners with pre-filters are the same, either. For cat hair, dog hair or other animal hair, it’s best that the pre-filter be composed of an electrostatic woven material, as the electric charge created as air flows through helps the hair, dander, and other larger particle stick to the pre-filter better, which means less gets through to clog the HEPA filter. Aller Air and Austin air cleaners have this type of pre-filter. The Winix pre-filter is a good one, but not electrostatic. Another important feature to look for when deciding which pet air purifier to buy, is the output. For quick and effective continuous air cleaning, it’s best that the air purifier have an output of anywhere from 200-400 CFM, which means it will over 99% of the hair and other dander floating around in a room every 2-5 minutes.

Any CFM less than about 180-200 isn’t going to clean the air fast enough, and you’ll have to run the air cleaner on high most of the time, which will wear it out and increase your power bill. Again, the Pet Machine and 5000 Vocarb are best because they have an output of 400 CFM. The Winix WAC9500 is acceptable, too, at around 200 CFM, and it’s quite a bit cheaper.

Review: Top 3 Pet Air Purifiers for Dander, Odors, Allergies

Sometimes it can be tough finding the right pet air purifier that truly removes the dander & odors that cause the majority of allergies. And many times, pet owners purchase a highly-advertised air cleaner that claims to be effective, but sadly just doesn’t perform, which leads to wasted time and money and having to buy another air cleaner, hoping that one will work. When it comes to choosing a quality room air purifier that is effective for use with cats, dogs, birds, or other pets, playing ‘the guessing game’ isn’t necessary if you know what to look for and stay with top-rated, highly reviewed brands and units.

In all of our testing, reviews, in-home evaluations and customer responses, there are 3 pet air purifiers that continue to rate at the top of the charts—and for good reason:

#1 The Austin Pet Machine: This pet air cleaner comes with all of the necessary features and air purification power to truly clean the air in your home, room or wherever your cat, dog, or bird spends their time. The Austin Pet Machine includes a medical grade HEPA filter that removes over 99% of dust, dander, fecal matter, hair, and other particles as small as 0.3 microns, and over 95% of particles as small as 0.1 microns—on the first pass. A human hair is about 50-100 microns in diameter, so you see this HEPA filter removes those super tiny, more dangerous allergy and illness causing dander particles, including bacteria. The Pet Machine also comes with 15 pounds of super-activated carbon & zeolite, which removes urine and other pet odors and chemicals better than any other pet air purifier. And, the Austin Pet Machine has an output of 400 CFM or cubic feet per minute, which means it will clean all of the air in an average size room every 2 minutes. And, it can handle up to 1500 square feet with one air cleaner. Filters last anywhere from 3-5 years, and warranty is for 5 years on both the unit and filters. This amazing unit, regarded by many (including us) as the very best pet dander air purifier value is also affordably priced at just $594.99 (with free shipping from our store). If you’re looking for the best cat urine air cleaners, we would recommend the Austin Pet Machine because the carbon filter also contains zeolite, which is very effective for removing the active component in urine smells, ammonia.

#2 The Aller Air 5000 Vocarb: this air cleaner has air cleaning power and quality construction like the Austin Pet Machine, but includes more activated carbon and the ability to add UV light air purification for even more protection from any bacteria, viruses or other airborne germs commonly found in cat, dog, and bird dander. This pet air cleaner comes with a medical grade HEPA filter that easily removes over 99% of the dander, dust, hair, etc., created by most pets, plus 18 pounds of super-activated industrial-grade carbon that removes odors, chemicals, VOC’s, even better than the Pet Machine. And, the Aller Air 5000 Vocarb has an output of 400 CFM, as well, so it will remove over 99% of all dust, dander, urine and other odors in a normal size room (10×10) every 2 minutes. The filters last anywhere from 3-5 years with this air cleaner, as well. The 5000 Vocarb can also handle up to 1500 square feet with one air cleaner. Warranty is 10 years. This super-powered air cleaner does an excellent job of cleaning the air, much like the Pet Machine but removes pet odors plus other household chemicals and smells, but costs a little more–$799.98 or $999.98 with the UV light option, again with free shipping from our store.

#3 Blueair 650E: Blueair has some incredible technologies that enable their air cleaners to remove pet dander and odors like no other. Their HEPA filter is a special type of woven poly fiber that does not create any off-gassing or release any odor, which can be important for those with extra sensitivities, allergies, asthma, etc. And, the HEPA filter removes over 99% of all dust, dander, hair and other particles down to 0.1microns, so it’s extremely effective. The Blueair 650E also produces healthy negative ions (ozone free) that increase the HEPA filter’s ability to remove dust & dander even further, and kill bacteria & viruses on contact. Blueair’s patented SmokeStop carbon filter contains about 9 pounds of unique chemically-activated carbon that does an amazing job of removing cat, dog, bird, even urine odors. This air cleaner also has dust & dander sensors that automatically increase the speed and air cleaning power of the unit whenever these pollutants are sensed, then turns back down when removed—very important for those with severe pet allergies

The Blueair 650E is one of the best pet dander air purifiers, no doubt, but handles smaller rooms up to 700 square feet with one unit. Replacement filter costs are about the same as the Pet Machine or 5000 Vocarb, but the less expensive filters do need to be replaced every 6-8 months. Lifetime warranty is available, standard is 5 years. The Blueair 650E is another great pet air purifier value at $849.00, with free shipping, etc, and best suited for smaller rooms and those with severe allergies.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com offers a wide selection of the best rated pet air cleaners for cats, dogs, birds, and other animals, with proven dander & odor removing power and great warranties, including Aller Air, Austin Air, Blueair and others. We take pride in offering outstanding customer service before and after the sale, and you can count on getting the very best discount pricing possible, since we have very low overhead and happily pass those savings on to you.
