If you only have larger airborne particles, HEPA’s will also prematurely clog expensive HEPA filter, creating unnecessary expense, as well.  Many times, a good cartridge type dust collector with a pressure-cleanable MERV 11 or 14 is much better, far cheaper on filter costs, and as a film of dust builds up, effiiciency gets close to HEPA anyway :)  At the same time, commercial HEPA purifiers can be very important if there are super fine dust particles being produced, smoke or people coughing or having other reactions with no apparent reason.
