Indoor Air Pollutants: Why Getting the Right Air Scrubber Pays Huge Dividends

Regardless of whether it's a home or commercial work environment--poor indoor air quality can cost you big. Pollutants like dust, fiberglass fibers, fumes from copiers, formaldehyde from flooring etc, all build up inside any enclosed, insulated space and aren't even diluted unless you are one of the few that has a special air conditioner that actually does bring in fresh air from outside--most air conditioners don't. Your air conditioner is most likely constantly recirculating those pollutants, so you get a constant, health harming dose of mold spores, chemicals, dust mites and more. And no, the air conditioner filter doesn't help much.

Even the best AC filters only trap about 60% of the larger particles, none of the more dangerous submicron size particles, bacteria, mold spores or viruses, and virtually none of the chemicals. To effectively trap all of these types and sizes of pollutants, you'll need to use some kind of indoor air scrubber with filters designed to remove what's in your air.

Indoor air pollution control is actually much easier than you might think or have been told. Simply size the output of the unit to the size of the space where you want the air cleaned, make sure you have the appropriate filters to remove the pollutants present, install, turn it on and forget it until you need to replace filters or do maintenance. That's it. Do that, and you've effectively prevented a ton of health-harming pollutants from entering your body or your employees' bodies, reduced healthcare costs, increased productivity and sense of well-being, and reduced expenses paid for allergy treatments and other medications. Huge dividends just from not breathing bad air--yep, you're exactly right.

Whether you need an indoor air particle remover, installed filtration system or anything in between, at our online store we make it easy for you to select the right air purifier for your needs, the first time, and without overspending. Buying Replacement Industrial Air Filters--What You Need to Know

Consistently effective air filtration in commercial and industrial situations is critical. This is because the types of pollutants released by various forms of manufacturing or production are much more hazardous than what is typically found in homes or residential areas, and can quickly cause health problems for workers and customers. The two most important things for maintaining that consistently effective air filtration are 1) selecting the appropriate commercial-grade air cleaners for your application and types of pollutants, and 2) buying new commercial air filters at scheduled intervals or a little before.

Buying replacement industrial air filters and cleaning any electrostatic plates on schedule is important because once the filters or plates fill up, they stop filtering the air as well, allowing pollutants to pass through, but now with a fan behind them--creating MORE circulation of hazardous chemicals or particles. This is especially true for carbon or other adsorptive media and electrostatic units.  Another key point to remember is that the manufacturer-recommended filter life is just a guide and could leave you and your business wide open for liability if you don't test the actual saturation rates and filter life as they're being used in your work space.

Determining your true filter life is easily done by testing the output air of the air cleaner about 2 weeks before the scheduled replacement date. If the output air shows pollutants, you know your filters are being used slightly faster than normal. If that's true, then back up another week or two earlier and check again. Do this until you find clean air still coming out of the air purifier. That's your true filter life.

At our online store, we offer a great selection of the best replacement industrial air filters and custom filters for any commercial air filtration system, with personal service, expert technical assistance and free shipping. Call us toll-free today at 1-800-701-2513. We're here to help!

Indoor Air Quality: How Temperature, Pollutant Levels & Humidity Can Be Working For--Or Against You

The human body is an environmental system on its own, with various internal systems regulating proper temperature, pollutant levels and moisture levels. The environment the body is in, however, affects how the body reacts and what internal setting changes it makes to account for the conditions around it. For example, when the body senses cold, shivering will begin soon to warm the body and keep its temperature as close to its ideal as possible. The body reacts to pollutants and humidity levels around it, as well.

When the air is too dry, the body sends internal moisture to the skin to keep it hydrated, which then evaporates and can leave you dehydrated internally. When there are too many pollutants in the air, the body often reacts with histamine, which results in itching, coughing, sneezing, tissue swelling, breathing issues and more, in an attempt to quarantine the offending pollutants. And since the indoor air in most homes and offices is 5-10 times more polluted than outdoor air (due to recirculation and build up of pollutants), if we aren't actively using air quality treatment products to keep in home air quality under control, most people end up with some form of chronic inflammation or reactivity that IS avoidable.

In home air quality is easily manageable by simply using the correct products to maintain comfortable temperature, humidity and pollutant levels. If you're looking to improve indoor air quality, it's as simple as finding out with meters or devices where you are with regard to temperature, humidity and pollutant levels, and then taking the appropriate steps to bring those measurements up or down to make the environment more comfortable and healthier.

At our online store, we take pride in offering the very best indoor air quality treatment products to help you quickly create the best and most comfortable living or working environment. Call our IAQ specialists today toll-free at 1-800-701-2513 for free help and recommendations to you can get the products you need without overspending. We are here to help!

Industrial Air Scrubbers: HEPA, Carbon or Filterless--Which One Do You Really Need

Industrial workspace air quality is a serious area of safety and must be properly addressed, not just to protect the business, but also you and the workers that are breathing the air on a regular basis. Maintaining proper indoor air quality in these environments often requires that the air be filtered properly with an industrial air scrubber. All industrial air scrubbers aren’t the same, however, and getting the right one for your application and the pollutants that need to be removed from the air is critical.

Essentially, HEPA and MERV rated particle filters remove dust, fibers and other particles. Carbon and photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) filters trap or break down chemicals and thus remove them from the air. If you have particle pollutants that you can see, you probably don’t need a HEPA, but do need a good MERV rated commercial air filter that will remove 95% of particles down to 1-5 microns (MERV 12 or 13, I believe). If you know that fine dust is being generated, but can’t really see it settling on things and people do cough or sneeze often, then you probably have sub-micron size particles, which would require a HEPA or MERV 14 or higher filter to remove those. Heavy duty organic and inorganic chemical vapors will need activated carbon or similar media that is tuned to remove those pollutants.

If the pollutants are more like ethylene gas or methane, for example, filterless PCO air cleaners are a great choice, and offer the added benefit of air disinfection as the PCO also destroys airborne bacteria, mold and viruses. Regardless of which type of industrial air filtration system you need, at our online store we offer a great selection of top commercial air purifiers with expert support available to help you choose exactly the right air cleaner for your needs, without overspending. 3D Printing Fumes: The Right Fume Extractor is Vital for Safety

For those working in 3D printing, having a few unpleasant odors is common and considered fairly normal. And while many materials don't create anything really toxic when printed, the fumes from ABS and PLA however, may actually be toxic VOCs (Volatile Organic Carbon). A  new study conducted by 3Dsafety.org, working with WASP (a leading 3D printing manufacturer) found that during filament extrusion, fusion and processing of plastic materials, several toxic particles are released as well as gases, plus ammonia, cyanidric acid, phenol, and benzene--all of which pose serious health risks with repeated exposure (especially for younger operators, the elderly or those with weaker body systems, etc).

The simple way to prevent this issue and continue creating the incredible things that 3D printing is known for, a 3D printing fume extractor should be purchased with source capture capability (meaning it has an extendable arm to provide suction at the work area). You also don't want to grab just any industrial VOC air cleaner, though--you absolutely need to make sure the carbon or other media in the air filtration unit is effective for the chemicals being released.

Carbon and other media can be 'tuned' to specifically do a better job of removing certain things--if you are working with a reputable air cleaner company and you ask for it.  Buying the proper fume removal system can greatly help to ensure that everyone remains safe while working, help protect you and your business from lawsuits, among other benefits.

At our online store, we offer a wide variety of quality fume extraction units, commercial odor removal systems as well as custom air filtration units designed to meet your needs and specific requirements, all at discount prices with free shipping and expert support. Animal Dander: Why You Don't Want to Breathe It--Ever.

If you have an indoor animal, it's virtually impossible not to have animal dander floating around in the air, on surfaces, etc. For many people, dog, cat or other dander (which includes hair, skin fragments and basically any other particle or residue released from the animal's body) causes an increase in aggravating allergy, asthma, respiratory distress or other symptoms. Animal dander, however, actually contaminates your living environment with live bacteria and viruses attached to the dander, with some germs that can cause serious illnesses in the short term or long term.

Depending on what animal you have for a pet, and even though they've had their shots, regular veterinary visits, etc, animals can bring a variety of bacteria, viruses and germs into your home and distribute those germs along with their skin cells, hair etc that they release on a daily basis. Once released from the pet, animal dander (and any bacteria or viruses) soon gets mixed with house dust and soon becomes airborne, which makes it possible for you and your family to inhale these pathogens along with the dust.

Also, since these germs are alive, they contribute to higher levels of pet smell (mostly VOC's) in your home, as well. And keep in mind that, whenever you smell something, there is something in the air of chemical or particle nature that is impacting the receptors in your nose or brain or you wouldn't have the sensation of the smelling something. So, for those concerned about their health, whatever is in the air, is getting into your nose, lungs, and in many cases, your brain.

Other than getting rid of your pet, the simplest way to avoid problems with animal dander, cut your risk for illness and reduce allergy or asthma symptoms, is to simply buy an air purifier designed for removing animal dander. Animal dander air purifiers include high-efficiency HEPA or equivalent filters that remove over 99% of these airborne particles beyond normal HEPA to 0.1 microns, and the best units come with heavy duty carbon filters and UV for good odor removal plus actual air disinfection from the UV light. So if you buy a quality pet air purifier with HEPA, UV and carbon or electronic means of eliminating VOC's, you'll also have a very good pet smell air purifier, since most pet smells are generated by the VOC's released from the dander and bacteria that come with it.

At our online store, we offer a great selection of air purifiers for animal dander, animal odor air cleaner, replacement filters, custom units for residential rooms and large veterinary facilities as well, all at the best discount prices with free shipping due to our low overhead as an online store. We also have very effective filterless commercial air cleaners for veterinary offices and kennels, as well. Portable Large Volume Air Filtration Units: Clean Up Your Indoor Air Fast!

When you have indoor air pollutants and you know they are causing you allergy, asthma and other symptoms, you want to remove those airborne pollutants that are causing the problems. Many times, however, allergy and asthma sufferers will run to Wal-Mart and grab a cheap air cleaner that does have a decent HEPA filter, but just isn't strong enough to filter the air fast enough to grab the airborne pollutants before you can breathe them. This makes the cheap, under-powered air purifier you just bought do nothing but stir up more pollutants for you to breathe and increases your electric bill while removing only a small amount pollutants and ultimately wasting your money. For this and other reasons, in many cases, it makes a lot more sense to spend a little more up front and buy a large volume air purifier.

Big room air cleaners are designed to handle larger spaces, which means they have a strong enough motor to cycle all of the air in the space 3-5 times an hour, which is usually fast enough to grab the pollutants before you can breathe them. That's how you get relief from a portable air cleaner--size the unit to the space you'll be using it in first. Most top-rated room air cleaners will indicate on the box what size room they are recommended for in square feet or meters. That number means for that room size, the air cleaner will provide approximately 3-5 complete air changes per hour, running at it's top output speed. If you use that unit in a smaller room than it's designed for, it will simply clean up the air in the room faster and keep the air cleaner because it has less total air space to cover. For this reason, those with severe allergies often do better buying a large room air purifier that is rated for a slightly larger room than the one you'll be using it in.

Regardless of whether you need an quality air cleaner for a large bedroom or a huge office air filter, Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com has the best unit for your needs at the lowest possible price, plus free shipping. We're able to offer these great deals and massive selection because of our extremely low overhead--and we're happy to pass those savings on to you so you can enjoy clean, health air while spending less.
