Blueair Air Purifiers: One of The Best on The Market for Controlling Particles, Allergies, Smoke and Odors--Affordably.

When trying to purchase the right air purifier for your home or office, it can be difficult to find one that 1) is high-quality and lasts, 2) has high-performance HEPA and carbon filters to stop smoke and particles, and 3) nearly silent, and affordable.

Fortunately, Blueair Air Purifiers offer all of that, plus excellent warranties. They feature well-made Swedish design, excellent HEPA and carbon filters to remove odors/smoke/chemicals, negative ions (ozone-free) to further purify the air, and patented HEPASilent Technology, which makes Blueair air purifiers some of the best quality, most affordable and quietest on the market.

Blueair air purifiers are proven and AHAM certified to filter the air exceptionally well in rooms of just about any size appropriate for the air purifier's capacity. For small rooms and offices, the Blueair 203 is one of the best values available. For larger rooms, the Blueair 403 is a perfect choice. For those desiring electronic air sensors and other controls, a remote control, etc., the Blueair 450E is the right choice. The Blueair 650E has all of the same electronic controls as the 450E but is better suited for large living rooms around 700 square feet or smaller. The Blueair 450E and 650E with the SmokeStop filters are perfect for allergy and asthma sufferers as these filters remove not only particles but gases, chemicals and other elements that might cause an allergy/asthma attack.

The Blueair Particle Filter is a HEPA Filter like no other. It has a honeycomb cell design that creates a progressively smaller and smaller ‘pores’ as air passes through, allowing it to trap up to 99.99% of particles down to even 0.1 microns, not 0.3 microns as other HEPA filters state. It is important to have a filter that removes particles down to 0.1 microns as some of the most harmful bacteria and viruses and sub-micron particles are around 0.1  microns.

The Patented SmokeStop filter has an exceptional ability to absorb chemicals, VOC’s (volatile organic compounds), smoke, and even gases due to the highly-active type of carbon in the filter. The SmokeStop filter is recommended for those with severe allergies and asthma symptoms as this filter will remove the chemical / smoke related pollutants that often secretly increase allergy and asthma symptoms.

At Air Purifiers and Cleaners, you can buy any of the Blueair purifiers or replacement HEPA or Smokestop filters, parts, or anything you may need from Blueair. Just about any of the air purifiers can be purchased with the particle filter or SmokeStop filter installed. Do I Really Need To Replace The Pre-Filters In My Air Purifier?

Pre-filters for air purifiers / air cleaners may not seem to be a big deal, but they can greatly extend the life of your HEPA filters or carbon block air filters if changed regularly, saving you time, money, and ensuring that you have clean, healthy air to breathe.

The two main advantages to using a pre-filter to trap larger particles (10 microns in size and larger) are 1) it will prevent a good HEPA filter and carbon filter from getting ‘clogged’ too soon with larger particles–when a HEPA filter is clogged, backflow of unfiltered air often happens, blowing those smaller more dangerous particles back into the air for you to breathe, and 2) help extend the life of a HEPA filter significantly, allowing you to buy HEPA filters a lot less often.

In fact, a pre-filter can actually extend the life of a HEPA filter from 3-4 months (without a pre-filter) to a year or more with a pre-filter. Just buy new pre-filters and replace them every 3 months and your HEPA filter can last 3 times as long. Big difference. And, some pre-filters are washable – in that case, all you would need to do is wash them every 3 months and buy new pre-filters once a year to ensure that you and your family continue to breathe clean air, which helps avoid illness, allergies, asthma attacks, etc.

Many manufacturers have their own replacement pre-filters for specific air purifiers / air cleaners, and there are universal cut-to-fit pre-filter materials that you can customize for just about any purifier, some with carbon and some without. Currently we offer pre-filters for Aller Air, Electrocorp, and Austin Air purifiers, and will soon offer the cut-to-fit pre-filters mentioned above.

Since we are an online store, we don’t have the overhead of traditional stores—that means we can pass those savings on to you with cheap, every day prices on pre-filters, hepa filters, air purifiers and many other air quality products. If you have any questions, please give us a call toll-free at 1-800-701-2513. Our air filter experts are standing by to help!

How Long Do Activated Charcoal Air Filters Really Last?

That’s a great question. A lot of air purifiers/air cleaners have activated carbon filters to help remove chemicals, odors, smoke, etc, and sometimes it’s hard to tell if it’s still working or not or exactly when you need to change them. The manufacturers usually give a suggested time frame for changing the filters, but then state that how long an activated carbon filter lasts really depends on the amount of pollutants in the area, which is a little confusing.

A good rule of thumb is to change out all filters, HEPA and activated carbon / charcoal filters once per year, especially if you’re really sensitive to indoor air pollution.  If you’re extremely sensitive, don’t take a chance—change your filters any time symptoms even begin to reappear.   For the rest of us that may not be able to tell if we’re really sensitive or not, but still want a better idea of how long our activated carbon/charcoal filters last and really when to change them, there is a way to ‘test’ it—by how well it is still removing odors and smells.

Military grade carbon in gas masks, and in good carbon air purifier filters work by absorbing or attracting airborne chemical residues.  And since odors and smells also come from airborne chemical molecules and residues, if an activated carbon / charcoal filter in your air purifier is still working well, it should be able to mostly or completely remove an odor or smell in a matter of minutes, right?

So, one way to ‘test’ your activated carbon / charcoal air filter is to put your air purifier either in the kitchen after you’ve finished cooking,  or spray a little air freshener or cologne into the air around you, then turn the air purifier on high for 15 minutes or so. If the smell goes away completely or is very noticeably reduced, the activated carbon /charcoal filter is probably still doing its job trapping the airborne chemical molecules responsible for the smell.

You can test the filter again later and if it takes longer to get rid of the odors, that tells you that the carbon is ‘filling’ up and the air is needing to circulate through the air purifier a few more times to become clean.  True military grade carbon/charcoal filters (as used in Austin Air purifiers) will last longer, but once you begin to notice that the smell really isn’t going away, that carbon filter is probably ‘full’ and needs to be changed  Bottom line: you can test your carbon filter to get an idea of how long it really lasts, but do make sure to change your activated carbon / charcoal filters regularly to ensure that you and your family are still breathing clean healthy air.

At Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com, we sell replacement carbon air filters  for many of the top brands--Aller Air, Austin Air, Blueair, Tiger, Winix, Electrcorp and since we are an online store, we don't have the overhead of traditional stores. Health Problems? An Air Quality Test Kit May Offer Some Answers

If you have health problems, especially any kind of respiratory issues, an air test kit can give you some clear-cut information about your indoor air quality and help you determine if you need air purification / air purifiers or not. The majority of homes and offices typically have a variety of pollutants floating around that cause all kinds of health problems, some as obvious as colds, allergies, asthma, etc., and other problems that most people would not think are related to air quality, such as nervous system disorders, migraines, heart disease, even cancer.

If you live in an old house, or an apartment / house / building that has been flooded or had any kind of leak/water damage, you’re almost certainly at risk for mold / bacteria. And, if you have small children or babies, or if you’re pregnant / nursing, young/developing immune systems / health could be at risk. Mold is particularly serious as it can cause nervous system and organ damage.

Pollutants like mold spores, dust, dust mite/dust mite parts, pollen, fabric fibers, pet dander, all cause varying degrees of reactions in the human body. When you breathe enough of these air pollutants on a regular basis, allergy, asthma or other respiratory symptoms can easily surface, and untreated, can lead to infections, as dust / dander / fibers all carry some bacteria / viruses along with them. Other air pollutants like mold, arsenic, lead, asbestos, radon, even smoke, are sometimes silent killers, often leading to unexplained chronic illness, not knowing that it’s something in the air you've been breathing.

The good news is that simple indoor air quality test kits can often shine a light on this situation and let you know what needs to be done to improve your indoor air quality , and your health! But keep in mind that many ‘DIY’ or ‘Do It Yourself’ air quality test kits are commonly available now, but not all air test kits are the same. The last thing you want is inaccurate results from a non-accredited lab, slow results, hard to read lab results. Think about it: if you get the clear results from your air quality test, it could very well improve your quality of life. If you get the wrong or inaccurate information, it may do nothing to help or send you in the wrong direction.

At Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com, we sell only BHC air quality test kits because they are proven and used worldwide for quality air quality tests at an affordable price, with easy to use test kits you can use at home, and fast, accurate results from an accredited lab. BHC air quality test kits consists of a simple test strip that is exposed to the air or rubbed on a wall in your apartment, home, or office, and then closed / sent postage paid to an accredited laboratory for results in just a few days. Fast, simple, and effective.

If you have a particular indoor air quality concern and don’t see the air test kit for it, let us know. We either have that test kit or can create one for your situation. We have indoor air quality experts to standing by to help—give us a call toll-free at 1-800-701-2513 with any questions!

Stuffy Nose In The Morning? UV Light Might Help!

Do you wake up in the morning with a stuffy nose, scratchy throat, sneezing?  Well, it literally could be allergies cause by poor indoor air quality. Chances are, if you don't have a good air purifier and / or a duct mounted UV light air cleaner installed,  mold spores, dust, and bacteria have invaded your respiratory tract while you slept.

One of  the best, most affordable things you can do to stop this nonsense is to 1) make sure you install an allergy rated filter in your a/c system (1500 rating or higher), and install a duct mounted UV light air cleaner  system in the ducts. This UV light system has enough power to literally destroy the mold spores, bacteria and viruses that circulate in almost all duct work, and once they are dead, the allergy rated filter will trap the rest of the particles. It's an easy fix that is usually much less than a quality air purifier!

To Your Health!
