Got a Basement? That Extra Moisture Could Be Affecting Your Health

It’s no secret that water seeks it’s own level, usually the lowest part of a home—the basement. And because water tends to accumulate there, a basement can easily become a breeding ground for bacteria and mold that depend on the excess moisture in the air to grow and multiply. When that happens, bacteria and mold are continuously released into the air of your home and circulated by the air conditioning system. Needless to say, this can’t be a healthy situation.

Preventing this problem and safeguarding your health is quite easy, however, by using a top-rated portable basement dehumidifier. Units like those from Danby and Stadler Form all have the features necessary to quickly and quietly remove the moisture and prevent the growth of those germs. They also include built in hygrometers or humidity meters that help you keep the humidity where it should be – in the 30-40% range. If indoor humidity gets to 50% or higher, mold and bacteria growth can happen quickly, and quickly pollute the air in your home with germs. These portable dehumidifier also have drain hose options so you don’t even have to empty the bucket.

We do recommend Stadler Form and Danby, not cheap dehumidifier brands. Cheap dehumidifiers are typically noisier, don’t remove water from the air as quickly, and frequently don’t have a built in hygrometer or drain hose option. The best home dehumidifier brands like Stadler Form and Danby, include all the features and reliable, quiet performance you need to get the job done.

Best of all, you can get these quality portable room dehumidifier brands at a discount at our store, Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com, with free shipping. We have extremely low overhead and we’re glad to pass those savings on to you. And if you have questions, our indoor air quality specialists will be happy to answer your questions. Remove Dust Mites and Reduce Indoor Asthma Symptoms By 75%?

It’s definitely possible. Dust mites are one of the strongest allergens known to man, and responsible for as much as 60% of new asthma cases. Really. And where are we getting them? Household dust is the main source of indoor asthma symptoms, and in every gram of that dust, there are about 200 live dust mites plus hundreds of small dust mite particles and fecal material, which is just as strong of an allergen as the live dust mites.

And even if your house is clean, you’re still going to have some dust floating around, loaded with dust mites and their particles. Other than washing bedding regularly in 130 degree plus hot water once a week, the other main way to reduce dust mites—and asthma symptoms caused by them—is to use a quality home HEPA dust filtration system. And by using one of these regularly, you can literally reduce asthma symptoms caused by dust mites by up to 75%.  And that means less medication, which saves you money. HEPA filters remove over 99% of particles anyway, and that helps reduce cleaning and dusting, too.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com sells only the best home air purification units for home and office use, with quality HEPA and activated carbon filters—all at cheap discount prices because of our extremely low overhead.  Call us today and get the air filtration system that will sharply reduce your asthma symptoms. And if you just have a question, our experts are on hand to help---call 1-800-701-2513.  We’re here for you!

And be sure to use code FFAM10 for 10% off and free shipping on any air filtration system or portable air cleaner!

Indoor Air Filtration: The Difference Between Good and Poor Health?

Indoor air has been getting increased attention in recent years, mainly because 1) people are spending 90% or more of their time indoors, and 2) most studies indicate that indoor air quality is not only a problem in nearly every household, but the common pollutants like dust mites, mold spores, bacteria, viruses, benzene, etc. are being directly linked to real health problems. It’s bad enough that the EPA put out a statement in 2011 placing poor indoor air quality in the TOP 5 major health threats we face. And that's just for residential concerns--pollution in the workplace is even worse.

True, most of us feel ‘ok’, but we’d all like to have more energy, get colds and flu less, have fewer allergies, right?  Those things can definitely be improved if the air quality is better, but the long term dangers like cancer and other diseases caused by these pollutants can be avoided, too—simply by filtering the air in your home and office properly. And if we just spend a little on a quality indoor air purifier, we can prevent thousand of dollars of expense down the road, just be eliminating all those health issues—not to mention all the discomfort that comes along with it!  And if you're a business, keeping the air clean can not only mean the difference between good and poor health--it can also prevent lawsuits and help keep productivity and revenue where they should be--in the black.

How can you get the best air filtration systems without breaking the bank?  Not tooting any horns, but we offer the best air purifiers, replacement filters and more at the lowest prices on the internet—period. We sell top name brand electronic air cleaners and units with quality HEPA and activated carbon air cleaners, humidifiers, dehumidifiers and more at a discount with free shipping because we’re an only store with extremely low overhead—simply as that!  So give us a call today and get the air filtration systems you need and protect your future, your health and well-being. We’ll make sure you get the best for less!

EV-D68 Enterovirus On The Rise: Protect Yourself with HEPA Filters

We've been hearing quite a bit about EV-D68 (enterovirus D68). And while this virus strain was first identified in 1962, the number of new illnesses association with the virus have been increasing steadily since then. So far in 2014, there have been 130 confirmed cases of EV-D68 across the U.S. What's alarming about this virus is that it can have polio-like symptoms such as paralysis of the limbs along with the usual runny nose, cough, fever, and can lead to pneumonia and respiratory failure, especially in children under 5 and those with weakened immune systems. The good news is that many viruses are attached to particles, bacteria, etc, and a quality air purifier can stop the majority of those--and keep a lot of those viruses from being airborne in the process.

Now the question is: which air purifier and what kind of filters are best for this? Well, a lot of people are wondering whether air purifiers with true HEPA filters are better than say, electronic air cleaners with electrified plates that trap particle type pollutants. The answer to this question is: absolutely, yes--you want HEPA. Here's why: A HEPA filter has to adhere to certain guidelines to even have the name 'HEPA', such as being able to consistently remove 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns or micro-meters. Electostatic type air cleaners do trap a lot of the particles, but the performance does drop off after the plates get a little dirty--which means that the unit is simply circulating a portion of the pollutants (i.e. dust, bacteria, etc) and the dirtier the plates get, the more dust and bacteria--and viruses--get through.

This is why small room HEPA purifiers are your best protection (and best value) because they will stop and trap these airborne invaders, and their filtration efficiency doesn't degrade for a long time--like, for a year in most cases (some HEPA filters do last even longer).  For best protection,  make sure you are using a quality portable HEPA air purifier (brands such as Aller Air, Blueair, Austin Air), and second, be sure to buy your replacement HEPA filters on a regular basis. This way you can feel a lot safer that you're filtering out a large percentage of potentially infectious material from the air in your home or office, and anyone coming in that is sick won't be able to infect others quite as easily.

Also, if you want the best protection against bacteria and viruses, you might want to choose an air cleaner that has ions or a negative ion generator (ozone free), or one that offers UV light as an option (Aller Air offers this option). Both the ions and the UV light are able to destroy most bacteria and viruses on first or second contact or pass through the air cleaner. And of course, use whatever disinfectants you have on a regular basis, wiping down surfaces, faucet handles, doorknobs, etc. This will also go a long way toward keeping viruses like EV-D68 where they should be--out of your way.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com sells only the best compact HEPA air cleaners with maximum efficiency and great warranties---at the cheapest discount prices with free shipping, due to our extremely low overhead. We also have a team of experts on hand to answer any air filtration questions you may have. Just give us a call toll-free at 1-800-701-2513. We're here to help!

Stadler Form ANTON: Best Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier Value?

There are a lot of ultrasonic humidifiers on the market, and they've become very popular mainly because of their super-low energy consumption, effective humidification, and cool mist that's that great when children, babies or pets are around since it can't burn them.

Not all ultrasonic cool mist humidifiers are the same, however. Many of the cheap units found at large department stores don't have a demineralization cartridge that prevents that 'white mineral dust' from settling on your furniture and other household items. And, even fewer have any kind of mold or bacteria preventive features in place, so mold and bacteria do end up growing in the tank and that's a hazard.

Stadler Form, however, has introduced an outstanding portable ultrasonic humidifier called ANTON, that does a tremendous job of moisturizing any room or office up to 250 square feet, without all the problems above. ANTON has a demineralization cartridge that removes the minerals from the water so that when the water is vaporized by the high-frequency sound oscillations, there aren't any minerals to settle on anything.  And, ANTON also includes their famous Ionic Silver Cube, which kills mold and bacteria in the tank, so all you and your family get is clean, pure moisture.

ANTON is also a great baby room humidifier, not only because of the antibacterial filters, but because it is a true cold mist humidifier, so it can't burn. And, it's compact, comes in 6 great colors at no charge, and has an infinitely adjustable output setting so you can adjust the amount of moisture to exactly what your baby needs.  Plus, it has an automatic shutoff that turns the unit off when it's empty, so there's no worry there, either.

Stadler Form ANTON, in our opinion, is truly one of the very best portable ultrasonic humidifier values on the market today. On top of all the great features above, ANTON is Swiss-made with top quality materials, and that means it will last for years. Try one today and you'll see what we mean.

And don't forget to use code FFAM5 for 5% off and free shipping on this little gem! (makes us the lowest price on the internet:)

Immune System Damage from Indoor Chemical Fumes is Real. Prevent It With Activated Carbon Filters

“Indoor chemical fumes? But I don’t smell anything—and I feel pretty good most of the time.” That’s what most people say when someone brings up indoor air quality and the subject of chemical residues in the home. And true, you might not smell anything and you might feel pretty good—today. Many of the pollutants we’re talking about, benzene from plastics and fuels, fumes from paint and cleaning product leakage, arsenic from wood, etc, don’t leak out in large amounts at one time so you’re right—it would be pretty tough to smell them most of the time and as the guys at Febreze put it, if there was an odor, you’ve probably gone ‘nose-blind’ to it.

And, it does take time for most people to start not feeling well or develop disease. But eventually, most people do feel something like CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) or seem to get sick too often, or develop cancer ‘out of the blue’.  These household chemicals do build up in our bodies over time, however, and they do cause problems when the levels get to a certain point. Benzene, for example, is brought in by most air conditioning systems from city smog and car exhaust, and it’s a proven cause of myeloid leukemia, and it’s proven to weaken the immune system, opening the door for chronic infections of various types. And that’s just one example. The good news is that activated carbon is very good at absorbing benzene and other chemicals, solvents, etc., and all you have to do is use an air purifier with a substantial activated carbon filter and replace those filters regularly.

Substantial means several pounds of premium granular carbon not crushed charcoal that’s less effective.  And no, that thin foam sheet of carbon in some air cleaners and air conditioner filters doesn’t do much good at all—whatever carbon is there will be used up in a week or so because there’s just not enough carbon there to last. Carbon does become saturated and when it’s full, it’s done and doesn’t absorb any more.

If you don’t currently have an activated carbon air filtration system, such as those offered by Aller Air, Austin Air or Blueair, and you want to maintain a strong immune system and avoid illness, we highly recommend buying at least one for the room you spend the most time in. Then, be sure to buy replacement activated carbon filters as recommended by the manufacturer. Then, those carbon filters will absorb the chemicals and your body won’t have to.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com sells the best home and office air purification systems and top quality replacement carbon air purifier filters for many major air cleaner brands, at cheap discount prices with free shipping every day due to extremely low overhead. And we have a team of indoor air quality experts on hand to answer any questions you may have. Give us a call toll-free today at 1-800-701-2513. We’re here to help!

Dylos DC 1100 Air Monitors: Check Your Air Quality Before You Spend

There are tons of articles out there talking about the importance of cleaning the air conditioning ducts in your house. And clearly, there is a lot of evidence to support doing that, since dust, mold spores, and other pollutants do tend to build up over time and release into the air. But before you spend $1500 or more on a duct cleaning job, you might want to see just how many particles are in the air. Checking to see how many particles are actually in the air can now be done quite easily and affordably--with an air monitor.

Dylos DC1100 air monitors do just that—they use lasers to count particles in the air. In fact, one of these handheld meters can tell you in just a few seconds how many particles are floating in the air, for around $200. Then, if there aren’t really that many particles, you’ve saved a ton of money. If there are quite a bit of pollutants floating around, you may want to have your ducts cleaned. However—you can test the air in different rooms to see if one or two are worse than others and only have them clean those sections of ductwork instead of the entire system. That can save you a bundle, too.

And, you can also use the DC1100 to see how good the cleaning job was! If they say they’ve cleaned it and you’re still seeing the same readings, uh….they might need to go back and do the job correctly. You can also use home air quality meters like those from Dylos Corporation to find out if your air purifiers are doing their jobs, or if that vacuum cleaner blowing dust back into your room, and lots of other applications. Need to make sure the air is free of dust and particles in a given room? You can do that, too. Just turn off the A/C, use a portable HEPA air cleaner for a few minutes, and test the air afterward. If you need to be sure about particles in the air or if your ducts need cleaning before spending a bunch of money, the Dylos DC1100 air monitors can really help.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com sells only the best quality, most affordable handheld laser particle counters for home and office use, as well as all kinds of indoor air quality test kits to test the air for just about any pollutant you’re concerned about. And, we always sell at the cheapest discount prices with free shipping every day due to extremely low overhead. Got questions? Call our indoor air quality experts toll-free today at 1-800-701-2513. Struggling with Allergies? These 3 Steps May Help

Although any dry indoor air situation or climate can cause an increase in allergies for you (and any pets) cold weather often quietly contributes to drier indoor air--and allergies. Cold weather causes indoor humidity or moisture levels to drop dramatically simply because colder air cannot hold as much moisture in the air.

The result of this dry indoor air is that a lot of the dust, dust mites, dander, hair and germs that would normally be too heavy and moisture-laden are now light enough to easily become airborne and they begin to circulate throughout the home, creating a big dose of allergens and irritants that weren't in the air before.

So when you're get rid of or at least reduce your allergies significantly, it can be very helpful to at least rule out dry or polluted air as a cause of the allergies by following 3 easy steps:

First, check your indoor humidity on 3 different days, at different times of the day, during a week and take an average of those 3 readings. If humidity is under 30% on average, you'll probably need a humidifier. If humidity readings are in the 30-40% range, dry air probably isn't the issue and you probably don't need a humidifier. If humidity is over 50%, you probably need a dehumidifier to keep the humidity in the 35-40% range, which in most cases, is enough moisture to prevent dry skin, but not enough to feed mold and bacterial growth.

Second, make sure you're vacuuming (and mopping if possible) on a weekly basis and use a quality air purifier with a HEPA air filter for allergies to keep dust under control. Remember that dust mites are one of the strongest allergens on the planet and each gram of house dust contains an average of 200 live dust mites--and no one, pet or human, needs to breathe live dust mites.

Third, check your air conditioner setting and usage patterns. Sometimes, just running the air conditioner too much can cause air to dry out below acceptable levels, and distribute more dust and debris from inside the ducts. Your air conditioner coils cool the air by a condensation process which removes water from the air--that's how over-using or keeping the air too cool can contribute to dry indoor air. Running the A/C on heat for too long on a regular basis can dry out the air, too. Try to find a balance of air conditioner use where the system isn't running too much or too little, and install vent filters to stop excess debris from blowing out of the vents.

If you or your pets are seeing some relief after taking the above steps, that's great! If you're still noticing allergy symptoms, there may be something else going on. It could be a product or cleaner that you're using or there could be substances coming into your home that the air cleaner is not capable of removing, or it could be something dietary. At this point, you may want to consult an allergist (or veterinarian) for suggestions.

At Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com, we offer the very best deals on quality allergy air cleaners, air test kits, humidifiers and more, all at cheap discount prices with free shipping, every day. Feel free to use code FFAM5 for 5% off all items with free shipping!

Got Severe Allergies and Asthma? Why Large Capacity Air Cleaners Are Best

In an effort to reduce symptoms, many severe allergy and asthma sufferers search out quality air purifiers to remove the airborne dust, bacteria and other pollutants that cause the problem. Often, however, they do not get any relief or the reduction in symptoms is every now and then, or minimal. What happened? Was the ‘quality air purifier’ not as good as they said it was?  Are all air cleaners just a bunch of hype?

Not necessarily. Usually, the problem is that an air cleaner was purchased that was underpowered or too small for the room or area they regularly spend time in. True, it’s good to save a little money when you can, but buying an air purifier that can’t clean the air fast enough (before you can inhale the pollutants) doesn’t do much good, no matter how much you save. The other issue is that the air cleaner isn’t being used correctly. Customers will turn the output of a small air cleaner down to keep it quiet, but this has the same effect of not cycling the air in the room fast enough, allowing you to breathe polluted air before it can be cleaned.

These are two good reasons that large room HEPA purifier systems are typically best for severe allergies and asthma. Having an air cleaner that has an output of say 400 CFM will allow the air in an average 10 x 10 room to be cleaned every 2 minutes. Even at half speed, to keep the unit quiet, 200 CFM cleans all of the air in 4 minutes, which is fast enough to prevent most allergy and asthma attacks (provided that the unit has proper HEPA and activated carbon filters that aren’t completely full). This is why we recommend the Austin Air Allergy or Bedroom Machine, Aller Air and the larger Blueair air cleaners (503, 603, 650E) most often for those with allergies and asthma.

If you want relief, strongly consider buying one of these units, since they have the quality filters and a strong enough output to do the job-effectively and quietly. They’ll also last for years without breaking down like most cheaply-made air purifiers. Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com sells only the best, most effective large office air purifiers as well as large capacity home units, all at cheap discount prices with free shipping every day, due to extremely low overhead. Using Flammable Solvents? Why Fume Extractors Can Save Your Life.

Working with flammable solvents always presents a hazard and just ventilating isn’t always the answer. Ethyl alcohol and acetone can quickly form flammable, even explosive complexes when they mix with the air and it doesn’t even have to be in a confined space. Mold release compounds, turpentine, thinners, even enamel paints can present a fire or explosion hazard if there is any kind of ignition source present.

And even if the fumes don’t cause a fire or explosion, you certainly don’t want to breathe them, as organic solvents can cause skin defatting, dermatitis, central nervous system depression, or chronic toxic effects on internal organs, such as liver or kidney damage, and of course all sorts of respiratory issues.

Portable fume extractors and HVAC-based gas filtration systems can easily prevent these hazards, if the right units are purchased and used consistently and correctly. Flammable solvent fume extractors not only contain super-activated carbon, even specially-tuned carbon that specifically removes the chemical compounds present, but are also usually equipped safety devices such as spark arrestors (in welding units) and explosion proof motors. These safety devices prevent sparks from igniting fumes in and around the unit, as well as those fumes that are building up in the carbon filter.

Top fume extractor manufacturers such as Electrocorp offer explosion proof motors that have an enclosure that prevents sparks and heat from the motor from creating ignition with the fumes and gases being extracted. And since the quality and quantity of the carbon has a lot to do with how well the fumes are removed and how long the filters last, Electrocrop has become a world leader in fume & gas collection systems—not just for performance, but also affordability.

So take great care when purchasing any fume extractor, especially for use with flammable solvents or products containing flammable solvents. Cheaper isn’t always better, and using a lower grade of carbon or a carbon blend that is not tuned to remove your specific solvent fumes could mean the difference good or bad health, or even life and death for you and your business.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com is your best online source for quality fume extractors for soldering, welding and flammable solvent use, offering custom designed units and specifically tuned carbon blends for your safety and health. We also have a team of industrial air quality experts on hand to answer any questions you may have about fume extraction, so give us a call toll-free today at 1-800-701-2513 and get the answers you need. Workshop Dust Collection: Why You Need HEPA, Too.

A lot of workshops (home and industrial) use dust collectors to trap the larger particles and fibers, and many of these systems are pretty effective at doing that. What isn’t happening in many cases, however, that’s just as important is removing the smaller more dangerous micro-particles.

And it isn’t just micro ‘particles’ that are the issue. Mold spores are everywhere, and they easily grow on any organic material, such as wood and other natural materials you might bring into your workshop.  Mold spores grow and become airborne very easily, long before you see mold growth on something. Your usual workshop dust collectors, if they don’t have HEPA filters, unfortunately, are simply circulating the micro-particles, mold and bacteria when turned on simply because the air flow is there and the filter’s pore size is too large to stop them.

That is why industrial dust collectors and home workshop dust removal units with HEPA filters are much better and make your shop a much safer place to work.  Quality dust collectors such as those from Electrocorp, include heavy duty HEPA filters that consistently remove over 99% of all particles, dust, mold spores and bacteria as small as 0.3 microns, and in some cases as small as 0.1 microns, depending on which air cleaner you choose.

Or you may choose a workshop air purifier to run in addition to the basic dust extraction system you have running. That works, too, provided that the air purifier has enough output power or CFM to cycle all of the air in the shop every 5 minutes or less. Anything more than 5 minutes and you’ll be breathing the micro-pollutants before the air cleaner can get to them. If you need a couple of air cleaners or more to accomplish that, for the amount of space in the shop, then so be it. It’s a smart investment. You’ll prevent illness, allergies, and even reduce equipment maintenance because all of those micro-particles aren’t in the air to clog things up and get into places they shouldn’t be.  Not to mention, if you have employees, you’ll prevent air quality related health issues, reduce health care costs, reduce employee downtime due to illness, and even increase production.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com sells the very best workshop and woodworking dust collection systems for both home and industrial shops, with quality HEPA filters, all at the cheapest discount prices with free shipping due to our extremely low overhead. We can even design a custom dust removal system if needed. It is our pleasure to help you save money while equipping your shop with the dust extraction units you need to keep everyone safe, happy and productive.  We also have a team of dust collection experts on hand to answer any question you may have—just give us a call toll-free at 1-800-701-2513. Industrial Air Filtration Systems: Preventing Illness & Liability

Industrial air quality isn’t a new subject. Most commercial and industrial business owners and management staff understand the importance of ensuring that harmful chemical fumes and particles are removed from the work place. A fair number of long standing business owners and newcomers, however, think that because they don’t currently have a problem or ‘that’s the way we’ve always done it’, that their indoor air quality isn’t an issue—and doesn’t warrant investing in an air cleaner system. Or, they think they can simply exhaust whatever pollutants are present to the outside with a big fan and everything will be just fine. Those individuals might want to think again.

As recently as June 2014, a Roanoke company Chemsolv Inc. was fined more than $600,000 by the EPA for improper storage of chemicals and other violations. The chemicals were not only creating a harmful work environment, but they were also creating a rancid sulfur smell that no doubt aggravated nearby residents, as well, and probably resulted in another complaint to the EPA. In this case, Chemsolv had been fined before, in 2011, for other violations, so the saying ‘once you’re on the EPA’s radar, you stay on it for a long time’ definitely appears to be true.

Granted, they should have been storing and disposing of chemical waste properly, but if they had a quality industrial air filtration system in place, removing the fumes, that would have definitely have created a much safer working environment for employees and might not have allowed the odors to aggravate nearby residents, which we can only guess had something to do with the EPA coming back, as it’s often complaints that cause the EPA and OSHA to make a visit. And just venting to the outside with a fan? Well, as you can imagine, that’s probably not a good solution, either.

And losing 600k in fines might not be a big deal for a big company, but for a smaller company with fewer resources, that could mean the end of the business—especially combined with all the bad press and resulting loss of revenue. And even for a larger company, it could result in enough bad sentiment to ruin the company. All of this is, of course, avoidable by 1) following the regulations set forth by the EPA and OSHA, and 2) spending that extra little bit to install the proper industrial air filtration systems, which are required for many types of businesses.

Don’t short circuit and destroy the business you’ve worked so hard to build. Do yourself, your employees, the environment, and your customers a favor by making sure that you follow these regulations and make sure the air is clean in your commercial or industrial business. The cost of proper storage and disposal of chemicals or an activated carbon air purifier is a lot less than losing your company and being saddled with debt and fines for years. Plus—it’s the right thing to do.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com sells only the very best industrial air purifiers with heavy duty commercial grade activated carbon and HEPA filters, steel construction, and custom designs available to suit any situation. And since we are an online company with extremely low overhead, we make the air filtration systems you need affordable with the best discount prices available with free shipping, every day. And if you have questions, we’ve got a team of industrial air quality experts available to help, before and after the sale. Call us today at 1-800-701-2513. We’re here to help.

Gyms & Sports Centers: Eliminate Odors & Liabilities in One Easy Step

Sports and fitness centers, gyms and other recreational facilities often have a couple of things in common: odors and indoor air that isn’t all that clean. And that’s not pointing fingers at anyone, it’s just a natural result of lots of people sweating, moving around, and bringing dirt and other things with them.

And despite cleaning efforts, there always seems to be that ‘odor’, especially around locker and high use areas. Obviously, using a quality air filtration system can go a long way toward removing the odors, but as a business owner, if you really want to get rid of the odors and disinfect all of the air in the building in one step, one of the best things you can do is to install a UV light air purification system.

UV light bulbs release UV-C light rays that are highly germicidal and easily kill over 95% of mold spores, bacteria and viruses on the first pass (with a two bulb system). That means that those organisms that contribute to many of the lingering odors in a gym, and the germs that people tend to bring with them get eliminated once they pass through the air conditioner areas–which means fewer health concerns for members—and more people feeling great more often. And when people feel better more often, that means increased visits to your gym or fitness center–which almost always means increased revenue. Adding a quality HEPA and activated carbon air filtration system will make the air even cleaner, further reduce illness and odors, and reduce liabilities due to illness claims.

If you are going to purchase an HVAC ultraviolet air purifier system, make sure the unit or units are USA-made and contain quality 36 watt UV bulbs. There are a lot of UV light air purifier units out there that are made overseas that simply do not last, the bulbs do not give a consistent 36 watt (24k light unit) output, which means they don’t kill the organisms all the time.

Plus, many overseas-made UV light systems are difficult to get bulbs, parts or repairs for if something goes wrong. Buying made in USA systems, however, gives you the assurance of a quality, tested germicidal ultraviolet light air purifier system with a warranty and easily accessible replacement bulbs, parts, or assistance whenever needed. Sure, they might cost a little more, but you’re saving money in the long run because you won’t have to buy a new unit every 6 months.

Want Clean Air in Every Room of Your Home-Without Breaking The Bank? Think Whole House Air Cleaners

More and more people are realizing that not only is the EPA right about indoor air pollution being a BIG health threat, they’re noticing that they sneeze and cough more when they’re at home. And that’s likely because the air is loaded with allergy and illness-causing pollutants like dust, dust mites mold spores, pet dander, chemicals and more.

Cleaning up the air effectively, however, requires a little more than a ‘better’ furnace filter. Those furnace filters aren’t HEPA filters and don’t contain enough carbon (if any) to do any good. That means that almost of the smaller, more dangerous mold spores, bacteria, viruses, and chemical molecules are passing right through and out into your rooms for you to breathe every day. To remove these pollutants effectively, without spending $500 or more on a quality HEPA air purifier for each room, you simply need a whole home dust filtration system.

A quality whole house air cleaner system attaches to the output duct area of your air conditioner system. This way, all of the air from your home has to pass through both a HEPA filter and heavy duty carbon filter, which quickly removes over 99% of dust, dust mites, mold spores, bacteria, viruses and more. Aller Air whole house air purifiers are excellent examples of quality air purifiers that enable you to enjoy clean air in every room of your home, without breaking the bank, and without having to drag an air cleaner from room to room. Plus, with a whole house air cleaner system, you have only one set of filters to replace—and that alone can save you hundreds of dollars per year.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com sells only the very best whole house air filtration systems with quality medical-grade HEPA filters and heavy-duty carbon filters for maximum dust and odor removal in your entire home—at an affordable price. In fact, all of our products are sold at the cheapest, best discount prices you’ll find anywhere due to our extremely low overhead.

We also offer free shipping to anywhere in the continental U.S. and Canada, which saves you even more. Got questions? We’ve got answers. Call our experts toll-free at 1-800-701-2513. We’re here to help!

Solving The Pet Allergy Riddle: It's Easier Than You Think

Most pet (and human) allergy symptoms are the result of overly dry indoor air or some kind of external stimulus or allergen that causes a reaction to the body, either on skin, eyes, nose, ears or in the airway. Aside from food allergies, most of these allergens are concentrated in the areas where you and your pet live and circulate as the air circulates and foot traffic moves them around.

And if you live in a dry or cold climate, you're likely to have low indoor humidity (below 30%) and spend more time indoors where the majority of the allergens are--allergens like dust, dust mites, dander, hair, mold spores, etc. Plus, the dry air will naturally cause skin and respiratory tissues to dry out and become more sensitive, and with the extra amount of allergens floating around, you and your pet will likely have more frequent and more severe allergy symptoms, simply because the air is too dry.

The good news is that the overall dryness of your indoor air or indoor humidity level and all the particle and chemical-type pollutants are things that can be easily controlled. Now it's true that not all dry skin, itchy eye conditions are the direct result of airborne allergens or dry air. But since about 75% of these conditions are the result of either dry air or airborne allergens, it makes sense to check a few things and find out---such as your indoor humidity level and whether dust mites, mold spores, and bacteria are present.

You can check your indoor humidity with either a digital hygrometer or an outdoor thermometer with a humidity meter on 3 different days during a week, a different times during the day and take an average of those readings. If humidity is under 30% on average, you'll probably need a humidifier. If humidity readings are in the 30-40% range, dry air probably isn't the issue and the problem is likely airborne allergens, which can be removed with a quality HEPA pet air purifier and regular vacuuming & mopping (at least once a week).

If the indoor humidity is over 50%, you can still have a lot of dust and dander in the air, and you'll probably have an extra amount of mold spores and bacteria, since they feed on that excess moisture, multiply in your air ducts and circulate every time the A/C turns on. If humidity is over 50%, you probably need a portable room dehumidifier to keep the humidity in the 35-40% range, which in most cases, is enough moisture to prevent dry skin, but not enough to feed mold and bacterial growth. You can also quickly test the dust and surfaces in your home for dust mites, bacteria & mold with one simple test called the Micro Check. This will tell you in about 10 minutes whether you have powerful allergens like mold spores and dust mites floating around.

Once you determine where your indoor humidity levels are, take steps to adjust the humidity to healthy levels, and eliminate the airborne allergens that plague over 95% of homes with an air cleaner, you're almost guaranteed to see a sharp reduction in pet allergy symptoms for you and your pet. You'll probably notice a reduction in odors, as well, since most odors come from and linger due to airborne pollutants and improper indoor humidity. If you or your pet still have allergies, at least now you will have ruled out two major causes of allergies (improper humidity and airborne allergens) and you can look at other things you or your pet may have come in contact with and move on to completely solving the allergy riddle.
