Whole House Air Filtration Systems: Your Best, Cheapest Way To Control Dust In The Home

A lot of people deal with excess dust in their homes, along with chronic allergies and sinus or respiratory irritation. Vacuuming and mopping does help to a degree, but to truly control the constant release of new dust particles from sheetrock, carpets, new dust mite populations, pet hair, dust held and released by fabrics and furniture, etc, requires a HEPA air filtration system. Buying several quality portable HEPA air cleaners, one for every room you spend time in, however, can become expensive.

One of the most cost-effective methods of removing a large percentage of the dust in your home is to use a deluxe whole house purifier system attached to your central HVAC system or air conditioner ducts. A system like this with true HEPA filters can remove over 95% of all of the dust in your home with one unit that is out of sight, doesn’t take up any floor space in your home, and only requires one set of filters to be changed at replacement time. Granted, the fastest and best way to keep the air clean in your home would be to have 4-6 high quality portable air cleaners running in all of your home’s rooms, because a portable unit grabs anything blowing out of the ducts and captures new dust almost as it’s formed, even before the HVAC system can cycle it through the air handler.

So if you have the funds and you want the best, fastest indoor air purification possible, buy 4-6 portable air cleaners from brands like Aller Air, Austin Air or Blueair and run them continuously—or even better use the portable units in combination with a whole home air filtration system. But if you want one air cleaner unit that will remove over 95% of the dust in your home in a matter of a few days and keep it at 95-99% dust-free, we recommend whole house HEPA air purifiers, such as those from Aller Air, specifically the D AH Vocarb models, since they also come with industrial strength carbon that removes all those silently-aggravating and health destroying chemical residues from cleaning products, stored paints, solvents, fragrances, etc. Many people have allergies and sensitivities, headaches and other ailments, not realizing that they are reacting to these chemicals.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com offers the most effective and lowest cost whole house air purifiers with quality HEPA and carbon filters that can quickly remove over 99% of all of the dust and chemical residues in your home—all at super low discount prices with free shipping every day, due to our low overhead and great relationships with our suppliers. If you have any questions about electronic home dust filtration, or need assistance choosing the best unit for your particular house, just give us a call at 1-800-701-2513. We’re here to help!

Residual Dust and Dust Collection Systems: Diffusing a Ticking Time Bomb in Your Business

Dust, particles and fibers floating around in a home or industrial workshop can often pose a lot more than just a nuisance or inconvenience. Dust from wood working, carving, sandblasting, drywall, ceramics, metals and others can cause a variety of allergy and respiratory issues, that range from aggravating to life threatening, and because of this, many business owners do employ vacuums and other systems, respirators, etc that get rid of the majority of the dust before it becomes a problem. There is a common problem, however, in many home and industrial shops that frequently have dust pollution: residual dust (what’s left over afterward, accumulations, etc).

First, if you don’t have a quality particle filtration system (consisting of source capture duct extractors and room air filtration units) and you routinely have airborne dust, fibers and particles floating around, it’s very important to your safety and health, the safety of your employees and the life of your business to make sure to remove those pollutants. This is easily accomplished by consulting an industrial air filtration or dust removal specialist and purchasing the right combination of units for your application.

Second, one of the big problems small and large workshops encounter is residual dust, which silently causes illness and can cause explosions without warning.  Wood dust (and particles from a lot of other materials easily become airborne) is very similar to grain dust, and I’m sure you’ve heard of grain silo explosions. Well, if you don’t have a dust removal system in place, this can easily happen in a workshop. And even if you do have vacuums or maybe not enough dust filtration units in place, it can still happen from the residual dust that is left over or not captured by those vacuums or other units.

Dust explosions (deflagration) typically require five conditions to be met for them to occur: 1) combustible dust, 2) dust suspended in the air at a sufficiently high concentration, 3) a confined space 4) oxygen or other oxidant, and 5) any ignition source, such as a spark, cigarette lighter, torch or other sources. Dust from coal, sawdust, and magnesium are some of the most ‘ignitable’, but grain, flour, sugar, even powdered metals like aluminum and titanium can quickly cause a dust explosion, if the other factors above are present. Usually, there’s always oxygen present, and then all that’s really needed is an ignition source—which, in a workshop, can come from multiple sources. The problem with the concentration factor is you don’t know exactly when the proper amount of dust is suspended in the air—but it’s better to just not take the chance, as a dust explosion can destroy your business and cause loss of life.

The best course of action is to have source capture  particle filtration system in place at the machines where the dust is being produced, but also have the appropriate number of room particle filtration units running as well, to give you the Federal or State OSHA required number of clean air changes per hour (to keep the air clean and safe, and avoid hefty OSHA fines).

Many business owners will have source capture units in combination with cyclone dust collectors attached to the central HVAC system to remove any residual dust and prevent sudden dust explosions or deflagrations. Quality dust collectors are tax deductible expenses, too, and usually classified as equipment that can be used as collateral for loans, so that’s two more reasons to go ahead and get the units or systems in place to make sure you and your employees are protected.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com sells the best quality portable and central HVAC dust removal systems and industrial cyclone dust collectors designed for construction, contractors, and home workshops. And since we’re an online store with low overhead, that means cheap discount prices for you, with free shipping every day. 4 Tips for Using a Home Dehumidifier Properly

If you’ve got excess moisture in your home, a home dehumidifier can be a perfect tool to get that humidity (and indoor air quality) under control. By reducing the humidity to 30-35%, this removes the moisture that mold and bacteria need to reproduce, which can make a big difference for those experiencing chronic allergies, sinus, respiratory infections, asthma or other illnesses. There are, however, several things to keep in mind when using a portable home dehumidifier:

1) First, you want to make sure you know what the humidity is in your home, basement or wherever the unit is to be used.  If the dehumidifier doesn’t have a built in humidity meter or hygrometer, you can purchase one by Stadler Form (Selina) or buy an outdoor thermometer that has a humidity meter in it. If the humidity is above 45%, we recommend turning the dehumidifier on and letting it run until the average humidity around the home is 30-35%, which is the level where most people are comfortable.

2) Next, keep an eye on your humidity meter. When the outside temperature gets colder, the indoor humidity usually drops and if you’re dehumidifier is still running, the humidity can drop below 20% which can easily cause sinus and respiratory irritation. So if the humidity is already lower than 30%, just turn off the dehumidifier or set for a higher humidity level. Bottom line: keep an eye on the humidity meter. And if you have a humidifier as well, sometimes it’s better to keep both running (i.e. the dehumidifier running in one part of the home, the humidifier running in your bedroom, etc) because if the humidifier has water purification technology, it’s releasing pure, clean moisture while the dehumidifier removes the polluted moisture.

3) If your basement is where the visible moisture is (or wherever it is), keep your portable dehumidifier running there. It will reduce the overall humidity in the home. Take your humidity meter or hygrometer around to different areas and measure the humidity. Look for any condensation on windows, as well—if you see that, run the dehumidifier there and investigate for any leaks.
4) Try to find small dehumidifiers or units that aren't too heavy, such as those from brands like Danby or Stadler Form USA that has a large room capacity, one that has a drain hose, and one that’s fairly quiet. You don’t want to be emptying buckets every 4 hours, and most dehumidifiers turn off when the bucket is full, so if there’s a drain hose, the unit can keep working instead of turning off. Also, if the unit is quiet, you can use it in your bedroom or other rooms without worrying about the sound. And if the dehumidifier has a large room capacity, it usually will have a stronger motor, move more air, and can reduce humidity in the whole home with one portable unit.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com offers only the best top rated portable home dehumidifiers from Danby and Stadler Form USA  that quietly remove excess moisture from basements and other rooms, and prevent mold and bacteria growth, reduce allergies and more. And since we’re an online store with low overhead, we're able to offer you the lowest dehumidifier prices anywhere, with free shipping every day. Your Pet Dealing with Chronic Allergies? A Quality HEPA Air Purifier Can Help

A lot of pets have allergies just like we do. Their sinuses, eyes, and skin react to airborne allergens and chemical pollutants in the home much the same as ours do, resulting in many of the same symptoms-runny noses, itchy skin and eyes, etc. In some cases, our pets can be strongly allergic to fragrances and lingering odors like cooking odors and other chemical vapors from cleaning product that we might not notice but they certainly do since their sense of smell is many times more sensitive than ours. And just like us, common dust mites, one of the strongest allergens known to man, can cause a variety of issues for our indoor cats, dogs, birds, and other animals.

A good solution to troublesome indoor air pollution and pet allergy problems is to use a quality HEPA air purifier in your home. Many cheap air purifiers found at Walmart and other department stores usually don’t have the proper filters or features to properly clean the air, but air cleaners from top-rated brands like Aller Air, Blueair, and Austin Air do have true HEPA filters and substantial carbon filters that effectively and consistently remove over 99% of all of these pollutants, and what’s even better is that the filters tend to last from 3-5 years, not 3-5 months like so many other air cleaners.

These HEPA pet air purifiers, however, though they cost a little more, will actually remove more of the dander, chemicals and irritating odors than most air purifiers that are specifically called ‘pet air purifiers’. And by consistently keeping the air clean, there’s a very good chance that not only your pet will feel better, but you will, too, as many household allergens and pollutants cause low level or hard to pinpoint effects like fatigue, poor sleep, irritability and more.

If your pet does have allergies, of course seek proper medical attention and treatment from a qualified veterinary provider. But definitely consider how the indoor air might be affecting your pet, since it’s been proven in research that poor indoor air quality has a number of allergy-causing effects in humans, and it only makes sense that our pets could very well be suffering from this, as well. Do stay with the top rated pet allergy air purifiers, however, such as Aller Air, Austin Air, or Blueair, as these are proven to clean the air most effectively and provide the best value for the money. Ensure that your pet gets enough fresh air, as well, by keeping some windows open on nice days, except of course if you live in a city with heavy outdoor pollution.

You may also want to consider negatively pressurizing your home, where you run an air cleaner that is pushing air to the outside, which causes the general flow of pollutants to go out, and clean air to come in through cracks, etc. If the air is polluted outside and you want to keep that pollutant outside, simply positively pressurize the home. This is often a very effective step with those that have severe allergies, so it may also be very effective for anyone with indoor pets with allergies or asthma

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com is your number one online store for quality affordable pet allergy air cleaners with true HEPA and heavy duty carbon filters, as well as negative and positive air pressurizing systems for homes and buildings that really work and last for years. And since we’re an online store with low overhead, we gladly pass these savings on to you with best cheap discount prices every day and FREE SHIPPING. Portable Room Humidifiers: Why They’re Better and Safer than Whole House Humidifiers

Having the perfect amount of humidity or moisture in a home or room can make a big difference in the severity of many allergy and respiratory symptoms caused by dry air. To adjust the humidity to proper levels, most people will test the humidity first, and since the air is often a little dry because of the normal moisture reducing action of air conditioners, they’ll consider buying an electric humidifier.

Some will look around and think that buying a whole house humidifier is more cost effective and will add humidity to every room in the home more efficiently. While these two points are true, the problem with installing whole house humidifiers is that unless you have a UV light air cleaner system running in the duct work, as well, that moisture is simply feeding the mold spores and bacteria that live on the coil and in the ducts, which causes them to multiply and can create an even more unhealthy situation. And if you’re going to install UV light air purification system anyway (which is a very good idea in most cases), then a whole house humidifier is fine and will do a good job, save money, etc.

If you don’t plan on using ultraviolet light to kill the mold spores and bacteria floating in your duct work, a better, safer choice is to use a quiet top-rated humidifier, either steam type (boils the water before releasing) or an ultrasonic with silver ion technology to purify the water before it’s released. Portable humidifiers are often better, as well, because you may need the extra humidity in your bedroom while you sleep, but don’t need a full stream of moisture in the living room or an office, for example, because you don’t spend a lot of time there.

The most important point about choosing a steam humidifier or ultrasonic unit with antibacterial protection over a whole house humidifier is that the moisture isn’t directly feeding mold spores and bacteria and the moisture being released is pure or at least bacteria and mold-free—so you get the relief that proper humidity can bring, without increasing your chances of getting another or worsening a sinus or similar infection.

Whenever you use an electric humidifier in your home, again, you want a unit that doesn’t release mold or bacteria, so make sure that the unit has that antibacterial /anti-mold protection of either heat or silver ions. And though germicidal UV lights aren’t as vital when you’re using a portable room humidifier, it’s still a good idea to consider adding them to your indoor air quality arsenal because they will add a powerful germicidal tool that disinfects all the air in your home constantly, or every time your air conditioner turns on. And should there be any mold spores or bacteria that try to feed on a little extra moisture in the air, the UV lights will kill them so that they never get a chance to multiply. This a very important recommendation for those with chronic sinus or respiratory infections, COPD, or other chronic illness.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com offers some of the very best electric home humidifiers that quickly add the perfect amount of sinus and respiratory relieving humidity—all at the cheapest discount prices possible, with free shipping, every day due to our low overhead and great relationships with suppliers. Bulk Carbon for Aller Air & Electrocorp Air Cleaner Filters—A Great Way to Save BIG!

So many people have purchased Aller Air and Electrocorp air cleaners simply because they are the world leader in quality, effective air filtration.  When it comes to replacing those amazing carbon filters, however, that can be a little expensive and sometimes people stop using one of the best air purifiers in the world.

Well, there’s a great solution to this problem—bulk air cleaner carbon made by Aller Air and Electrocorp! That’s right—now you can replace just the activated charcoal in the carbon filter for a lot less than buying a whole new filter! This is really important when you need to replace the carbon filters in an Electrocorp industrial air cleaner that has 50-100 pounds on more of Vocarb carbon.  Instead of paying say, $500 for each of 4 RSU 48 charcoal filters, just replace the Vocarb carbon in each 30 pound cartridge or canister with bulk charcoal.  That way,  instead of paying $2000, you’ll pay around $1300. That’s a 35% savings!

For Aller Air home and office air purifiers, replacing the carbon in these can save you a lot too. Let’s say you have a 5000 Vocarb with 18 pounds of bulk carbon. Instead of spending about $350 on a new filter canister, just buy 18 pounds of Vocarb carbon at 10.99/ pound and you’ll spend only $197!!  That’s a big difference! And this way, you can keep enjoying the amazing air cleaning power of Aller Air and Electrocorp carbon air filtration!

Don’t be fooled, however---all bulk activated carbon is not the same as Aller Air or Electrocorp carbon. Aller Air uses a special activation process that creates ‘super-carbon’ and makes it far more powerful for absorbing chemicals, gases, and odors than any other activated carbon on the market.

That’s why their air cleaners are preferred by so many individuals with respiratory problems, severe allergies, and by many industrial businesses where hazardous airborne chemicals must be removed for proper work safety requirements to be met—and to avoid OSHA fines.  Their HEPA filters are excellent, but it’s the carbon that is so well known for cleaning the air like no other activated charcoal available.  So be sure to only buy bulk AllerAir carbon for residential air cleaners or bulk Electrocorp filter carbon for any commercial or industrial air filtration situations because the carbon is truly unmatched--and that means you're getting the very best air cleaning.
Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com offers the best cheap bulk activated charcoal for Aller Air and Electrocorp air filtration systems and portable air purifiers.  And we can sell this bulk charcoal at super cheap, discount prices with FREE SHIPPING due to our low overhead and great relationships with our suppliers. If you have any question about carbon air filtration, bulk activated charcoal, or anything else indoor air quality related, please give our experts a call toll-free at 1-800-701-2513. Carbon & HEPA Pre-Filters: Why Any Air Filtration System Needs Them

A lot of air purifier systems and portable units only have HEPA and carbon filters, with no pre-filters. And if you notice, these air cleaners typically have a filter life that is only a few months, instead some competitor’s air purifiers with filter life of 2-5 years. Why is this?  Most top-rated air purifiers have a similar quality HEPA filters, and many have quality carbon filters as well, so it can’t be that.  Well, we can tell you that, most of the time, the extended filter life is due to having a good pre-filter system that prevents the larger particles from prematurely clogging the main filters, reducing airflow, performance, and decreasing the life of not only the HEPA and carbon filters, but also the air purifier or filtration system.
Pre-filters that are electrostatic are best, as they have al ‘static electricity’ type charge that attracts the particles to the filter, increasing efficiency and decreasing the likelihood that any will get through that filter. Brands like Aller Air and Austin Air both have pre-filters in all of their units, and consequently, their units have much longer filter life averaging about four years, which is much better obviously because it saves you money on replacement filters and saves time because you’re not having to deal with filters every few months, except to replace the pre-filters which is important.
Replacing HEPA air cleaner prefilters after vacuuming once is highly recommended because pre-filters do lose their electrostatic charge and can be damaged by repeated vacuuming. And you want to replace the pre-filters every 3-6 months to ensure that the larger particles don’t get pushed through by the airflow and clog up your HEPA and carbon filters, defeating the whole purpose of having a pre-filter.

Also try to stick with pre-filters made by the same manufacturer as your air purifier or air cleaner system. These are designed to work with the unit and aftermarket pre-filter material often doesn’t work quite as well. However—if your air purifier doesn’t have a pre-filter, you can often extend the life of your main filters by 50-100% by purchasing cut to fit pre-filter material and placing in front of your main filters (so that the air goes through the prefilter first).
At Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com, we sell the best manufacturer-made replacement carbon prefilters, and HEPA prefilters for Austin Air and Electrocorp air cleaners, which are all top-rated air purifier brands--as well as cut to fit pre-filter material. And we sell all of these products at the best, cheapest discount prices every day, with free shipping due to our low overhead and great relationships with suppliers. Carbon Air Filters: Why More is Better and Why You Must Replace Them On Time or Before

Activated carbon air filtration became the standard several years ago for effective removal of chemicals, gases, vapors, VOC’s, and odors simply because it really works. Carbon or charcoal is often activated by heat and / or chemical means that cause the carbon to be more ‘sticky’ or chemically attracted to various compounds and when they pass by the carbon, these compounds become ‘glued’ to the surface of the carbon granule, allowing the clean air to pass through the unit. Pretty smart. There are, however, a couple of key things to remember about carbon air purifier filters: 1) the more carbon, the better, and 2) you have to replace the carbon filter or the carbon itself regularly to avoid air quality issues.

Assuming that the activated carbon is high quality, the more of it in the filter, the better, especially if the filter is thicker (i.e. a longer distance of carbon that the air has to go through). More carbon in thicker filters means the carbon will have more time to adsorb a higher percentage of pollutants in the air. Carbon filters, by the way, don’t absorb pollutants into the carbon; they rather 'adsorb' or cause pollutant to stick to the surface, which is one reason why smaller granular carbon does better because it has more surface area to be used) One more point about getting the most out of your carbon filters is to reduce the air speed going through the unit. This, too, allows for more time that the air and pollutants are in contact with the carbon, which allows for higher rates of removal than if the air is moving through the filter quickly.

Regarding replacing the carbon filters in you air cleaner or filtration system, it’s very important to replace them on time or a little before because all carbon, even premium military grade carbon filters, do become saturated over time, stops adsorbing the pollutants, and then your air purifier is blowing out or circulating air that hasn’t been cleaned. So definitely buy your replacement carbon filters and change them on time, before, or when you start to smell odors again to avoid an air quality problem. This is especially important for home workshops or industrial situations where hazardous chemicals are in the air—in those cases, you may want to also have an electronic VOC or other chemical compound detector running to alert you to the presence of those airborne pollutants as soon as they start blowing out of the unit (i.e. as soon as the carbon filter is ‘spent’).

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com is your best online source for the best deals on top-quality bulk air purifier carbon for air filters, replacement charcoal purifier filters for most top-rated brands of home and industrial air filtration systems and units—all at cheap discount prices with free shipping every day due to our low overhead. HEPA Filters: Why They’re Better For Allergies & Asthma Than Electrostatic Air Filtration

A lot of attention has been drawn to electrostatic type air cleaners such as Oreck and others that use electrified metal plates to attract pollutants, thus removing them from the indoor air. While they do remove a good percentage of particles, the efficiency of such ‘ionic filters’ averages around 85%, leaving about 15% of dust, mold spores, and bacteria to float in the air. Also, this number goes down once the plates become saturated or coated with particles, which leaves more pollutants in the air

HEPA filters on the other hand, use a woven fiber matrix to consistently trap over 99% of all of these particles, and the number never goes down. Now, how fast the unit can clean the air in the room can go down some when the filter is full, due to decreased airflow, but the amount of particles removed is a consistent 99.97%—and that can be really important for those with allergies, asthma, or respiratory problems, infections, COPD, etc. One gram of dust contains about 200 living dust mites (one of the strongest allergens known to man) and literally millions of bacteria—no one needs to be breathing 15% of that!

Air purifiers with HEPA filters are typically quieter and don’t have any electrical ‘popping’ noise as some electrostatic air cleaners. Don’t be fooled—if you want the cleanest air possible and don’t want to breathe that 15% or more of bacteria, mold, dust mites, or other particles, stick with HEPA air purifier filters, air purifiers with HEPA filters, and be sure to replace the HEPA filters in your air cleaner and vacuums on time or a little before to ensure that dust and other pollutants aren’t blowing out around the filter, making indoor air pollution worse.

At Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com, we offer only the best manufacturer-made replacement HEPA filters for Aller Air, Austin Air, Blueair, Winix, Tiger, Vapor Eze, Stadler Form portable air purifiers, as well as HEPA filters for Electrocorp industrial air cleaners. And since we’re an online store with low overhead, that means cheap discount prices and free shipping for you every day. Electrocorp MD 750: A Better Fume Extractor for Welding & Soldering with High Output, Refillable Carbon Filters, HEPA & More!

When it comes to welding and soldering, it’s no secret that very hazardous chemical fumes, gases, vapors, and particles are released into the air. And of course, this is why OSHA requires effective air filtration units to be used that consistently keep these pollutants under regulation PPM or PPB limits. And not cleaning the air properly can quickly result in serious employee injury, thousands of dollars in OSHA fines, lawsuits and more that can cripple or destroy your business overnight.

The best defense against these hazards is to install and use the best fume extractors possible, the first time. One major company, Electrocorp, specializes in quality portable fume and gas capturing air filtration systems that not only do a better job of cleaning the air than their competitors, but have refillable carbon filters to help you save on filter replacement costs, and they’re typically lower priced than many other welding & soldering fume extractor manufacturer’s units. More power and lower costs? Sound too good to be true? Well, it is true and this is why Electrocorp is preferred for literally thousands of industrial and commercial air filtration applications. And one of the most popular is the powerful MD 750 Fume Extractor.

What’s the big deal about the MD 750? First, the carbon in the unit is ‘super-activated’ using a compound heat and chemical activation process that causes the charcoal to become more absorbent or more attracted to a wider range of chemicals, gases, and compounds—and with stronger attraction properties than ‘normal’ industrial activated carbon. And the filter contains a full 80 pounds of this carbon, which not only makes the fume extractor do a better job, but also makes the filters last longer since there’s simply a lot of carbon.

That means fewer filter replacements or refills and lower operating expenses. The MD 750 also has a 6” medical grade HEPA filter certified to remove over 99% of all particles down to 0.3 microns, a 950 CFM suction capacity, and a spark arrestor, which is important for preventing ignition of flammable fumes or vapors associated with welding and soldering. And of course, the unit is a source capture fume collector, and comes with a flexible 7-10 foot hose and suction nozzle that positions exactly where you need it, with multiple arms available for capturing gases & pollutant two or more sources at one time. So the MD750 isn't just a fume extractor--it's a powerful HEPA vapor filtration system that removes all types of pollutants found in welding, soldering and similar situations, not just the fumes.

And best of all, this powerful industrial fume extractor comes with a 10 year warranty. That means you’re not going to have to worry about the MD 750 breaking down any time soon, as the unit is made of solid steel and other high quality, long lasting materials and components. And don’t be fooled by cheaper or even more expensive competitors—their units might have a decent output or suction capacity, but they don’t have Electrocorp ‘super carbon’ and that makes all the difference when it comes to welding and soldering fume extraction.

Air Purifiers and Cleaners.com sells only the best portable fume & gas collection systems and extractors, with high performance source-capture soldering and welding fume extractors, as well as large room fume extractors, with and without HEPA filters, as needed. We proudly offer the full line of Electrocorp fume & gas extraction units and many other products to help keep your work areas and job sites safe and clean for your employees. And since we’re an online store low overhead, we gladly pass those savings on to you with the cheapest discount prices possible, with free shipping every day. Construction Dust Collectors: Electrocorp’s Air Rhino 2000 VS HEPA is Hard to Beat

Construction dust can include particles and fibers from many different sources—drywall, fiberglass insulation, wood dust, and of course, dirt and mud. All of these particles pollute the air, specifically in rooms and other enclosed spaces that are going up, getting finishing touches, etc. And requiring that workers or employees wear respirators can be uncomfortable, and make it hard to breathe, especially in warmer climates. What’s a better solution? Grab an air purifier designed for construction dust and related applications.

Dust collectors vary widely in cost and the types of filters included, but some of the very best, most versatile units are the portable dust collectors from Electrocorp—specifically the Air Rhino 2000 VS HEPA. This industrial strength portable particle filtration system is made of solid steel, includes dust filters, prefilters, and 12” thick HEPA filters to cover the full range of particles and fibers, and even includes a 4.5 lb carbon filter to remove odors and fumes.

The Air Rhino unit also comes with positive and negative air capability and a 10 year warranty—all in an easily portable dust removal system that can roll around on the floor or be hung from beams or other structures to save floor space. And we almost forgot—the output is a full 1000 CFM—which is enough to clear the dust out of large rooms and construction sites fast. You can even convert the Air Rhino 2000 VS HEPA to a powerful fume extractor by just changing the filters to carbon—and then you can buy bulk carbon to refill that carbon filter, which saves you hundreds on filter replacement costs.

Best of all, this dust collector is far cheaper than most (especially cyclonic dust extractors). It’s around $2500, with free shipping in most cases, which is affordable enough to keep several of these units on hand to keep the air free of dust in all of the work areas. Some contractors even rent out these dust collection units for $200-300 a day, which can make for another nice source of revenue to defray some of those irritating extra costs that always seem to come up.

We see all kinds of portable dust collection systems come along and there’s still nothing quite as good for performance and value as the Electrocorp Air Rhino 2000 VS HEPA, so we have to recommend this unit, once again, for just about any construction or contractor application where dust, drywall, fibers, particles or even fumes need to be quickly and continuously removes from a job site, warehouse, or other indoor space.

Industrial Air Cleaners: Vital for Construction Projects, Keeping Liabilities Down, Profits Up

Construction jobs vary greatly, from small remodeling projects to large commercial buildings and everything in between. With just about all of these jobs, there are enclosed spaces where employees and contractors are working, and almost always a variety of types of pollutants in the air, including fibers, dust, chemical vapors, and more. And while respirators and masks can remove some of these, it’s often much safer and better for your bottom line to have an industrial strength air cleaner running to minimize any liabilities from employee injury resulting from poor air quality.

The good news is that choosing the proper air cleaner or filtration system for your construction project is fairly simple: if you have dust and particles, you’ll need a dust collector with dust filters and HEPA. If you have fumes, you’ll need an air purifier with large amounts of quality activated carbon. And if you have both kinds of pollutants (which happens most often), you’ll need a combination air cleaner with HEPA and carbon filters. It’s also best to choose an air scrubber that is portable, so you can easily move the unit to new job sites or rooms and make sure that good air quality is constantly maintained.

One of the best construction site air cleaner manufacturers that consistently get great reviews is Electrocorp. Electrocorp has the world’s best HEPA and carbon filters while being highly customizable for specific air filtration needs, as well as affordable. Their Air Rhino, 9975 Smoke, and RSU series are used by literally thousands of companies to effectively remove hazardous pollutants and meet OSHA regulations. Electrocorp’s carbon filters are state of the art, and contain the strongest activated carbon in the world, easily removing tough chemicals like hydrogen sulfide, TCE, benzene, and many more. And, these carbon filters are refillable with bulk Electrocorp carbon, which keeps replacement filter costs down!

Keeping one or more of these portable commercial air purifiers on hand can not only quickly clear out an industrial workshop, office, or room and make it safe to work in, with outputs ranging from 750 to over 1500 CFM. Regardless of what application you need air filtration for, Electrocorp either has the exact air cleaner you need or can create a customized unit to perfectly fit your situation—and back it up with a 10 year warranty. So do yourself and your business a favor and consider keeping the air clean at your construction job sites and other enclosed spaces with a quality Electrocorp industrial air cleaner—you and your employees will be glad you did.
